Burberry Promotes Key Leaders to Drive Operational Excellence and Customer Experience
Burberry, the esteemed luxury fashion house, has announced two pivotal internal promotions, appointing new leaders to the critical roles of Chief Operating and Supply Chain Officer and Chief Customer Officer. These appointments are strategic for the recovering luxury giant, emphasizing the brand's commitment to leveraging existing talent and strengthening its operational and customer-centric functions.
Matteo Calonaci has been promoted to Chief Operating and Supply Chain Officer. In this significant new role, he will be responsible for overseeing the company's entire supply chain and planning, alongside strategy and transformation, and data and analytics. Calonaci transitions into this position from his previous role as senior vice-president of strategy and transformation at Burberry. He succeeds Klaus Bierbrauer, who currently serves as Burberry supply chain and industrial officer and will be departing the company after its winter show and a transition period.
Concurrently, Johnattan Leon steps into the role of Chief Customer Officer. Leon's new responsibilities will encompass leading Burberry’s customer and client engagement, customer service, and retail excellence teams. Furthermore, he will oversee the brand’s digital, outlet, and commercial operations. Leon previously held the position of Burberry’s senior vice-president of commercial and chief of staff, bringing a wealth of experience in customer-facing and commercial strategies to his elevated role.
Both Matteo Calonaci and Johnattan Leon will now join Burberry's executive committee, signifying their integral positions within the company's top leadership. In their new capacities, they will both report directly to the Company CEO, Joshua Schulman, underscoring the strategic importance of their functions to the brand's overall direction.
CEO Joshua Schulman expressed strong confidence in the appointments, stating that they "reflect the exceptional talent and leadership we have at Burberry." Schulman further lauded both executives, highlighting that they "have been instrumental in strengthening our focus on executional excellence and elevating our customer experience."
