Byredo Unveils Immersive Covent Garden Flagship Celebrating Scent Design and Swedish Heritage
Building on its significant success, luxury lifestyle brand Byredo has expanded its retail footprint with the opening of a new London Covent Garden flagship store. This follows a proven track record, beginning with a thriving concession within Harvey Nichols in Victoria Leeds, which then led to the establishment of a full-fledged standalone store in the same mall.
Located within the vibrant Covent Garden Piazza, Byredo’s latest retail offering is envisioned as "an architectural composition of memory, materiality and motion." The space is meticulously designed to serve as "a moment of stillness within the city’s rhythm," inviting visitors into a quiet, immersive experience—a sensory interlude finely shaped by light, texture, and form. This two-floor establishment is conceived as a meticulously "curated environment where fragrance, beauty and design converge."
The store features a diverse array of thoughtfully designed areas to showcase Byredo's extensive product range. These include warm wood and mustard-toned candle niches, alongside sculptural displays dedicated to its exquisite collection of eau de parfums, hair perfumes, room sprays, and more. Anchoring the ground floor, a dedicated Blanket Bar proudly presents woven pieces crafted from virgin wool and cashmere, deeply "rooted in the codes of Swedish textile heritage." Complementing these are bespoke Kasthall rugs, drawing inspiration from the traditional Röllakan weaving technique and coloured in Byredo’s distinctive palette.
The interior design of the flagship store is characterized by a sophisticated blend of materials, including brushed steel, soft lighting, pale wood, granite, and stone, creating an elegant and inviting atmosphere. The lower ground floor offers a more intimate setting, specifically designed to host personalized fragrance consultations and "personal rituals." Additionally, this level features a dedicated space for Byproduct, the brand’s unique design-led collection of functional pieces that effectively "extend the narrative of scent through form."
