Cartier opens permanent Palm Beach boutique blending historical preservation with coastal design.

Cartier has opened a permanent boutique in Palm Beach, located within the Royal Poinciana at 70 Royal Poinciana Plaza. The new store houses Cartier’s full range of products, including jewelry, fine jewelry, watches, leather goods, fragrance, and accessories, offering a comprehensive selection for customers in the area.

The boutique’s design reflects a blend of Cartier’s brand heritage and Palm Beach’s coastal identity. A core focus of the project was architectural preservation and local history. The boutique occupies a portion of the former Royal Poinciana Playhouse, a building originally opened in 1958 and designed by architect John Volk in the Regency Revival style. The store retains the Playhouse façade, including statues representing the four seasons, which were preserved under the guidance of the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Interior details within the store incorporate elements of Regency architecture, such as wrought iron accents, classical friezes, stucco façades, and arched windows, as a tribute to the building's legacy. The design also draws on Palm Beach's natural environment with 17-foot ceilings and hand-painted golden wall gradients accented by custom reliefs inspired by native foliage. Wooden flooring references the area’s seafaring heritage, while Murano glass sconces shaped like shells and palm leaves highlight the coastal character and echo themes found in Cartier’s collections.

The opening of this permanent location solidifies Cartier's century-long connection to Palm Beach. The brand first established a presence in the area over 100 years ago, opening a seasonal boutique in the Beaux Arts Building in 1924.
