Champagne workers strike at LVMH's Moët and Veuve Clicquot over bonuses
The CGT labour union, representing workers at LVMH's prominent champagne units, Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot, has called on staff to initiate work stoppages and join protests this Thursday. The action is aimed at compelling management to pay year-end bonuses to employees.
At Moët & Chandon, the CGT issued a directive urging workers to participate in a midday gathering. The purpose of this assembly, according to a leaflet seen by Reuters, was for employees to collectively determine whether further strike action should be pursued. The union's communication stressed the importance of making management "hear our dissatisfaction."
Simultaneously, the same union branch at Veuve Clicquot encouraged its members to walk out for several hours to join the planned demonstrations. The coordinated protests across both LVMH subsidiaries underscore the union's efforts to secure financial remuneration for its workforce in the form of year-end bonuses.
Moët Hennessy, the drinks division of the LVMH luxury group, which oversees both champagne houses, could not immediately be reached for comment regarding the union's calls for protest and strike action.
