Circulose and TextileGenesis Partner for Transparent Circular Textile Supply Chains

Supply chain traceability, a cornerstone of sustainable and circular practices in the textile industry, is taking a significant leap forward through a strategic partnership between Swedish next-generation materials producer Circulose and pioneering textile ecosystem platform TextileGenesis. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in ensuring transparency and integrity within the fashion supply chain, particularly for innovative, circular materials.

The core of this partnership revolves around digitally tracing every kilo of Circulose’s pulp, which is uniquely made entirely from discarded textiles, all the way through to the finished product. This sophisticated digital tracking system is designed to provide brands with verified, data-backed visibility. Such transparency is crucial not only for substantiating circularity claims and building consumer trust but also for preparing brands to meet upcoming stringent regulatory requirements concerning material origin and environmental impact.

Beyond immediate implementation, the alliance between Circulose and TextileGenesis is underpinned by a shared ambition to expand this traceability further upstream over time. This forward-looking approach indicates a commitment to developing a truly comprehensive and end-to-end transparent supply chain, extending visibility to every component and process involved in the creation of Circulose materials.

Jonatan Janmark, CEO of Circulose, underscored the importance of this initiative, stating, “As the industry shifts to preferred and circular materials, strong traceability is critical to ensure integrity of sustainability claims.” He further emphasized the practical benefits for brands, explaining, “By embedding traceability through TextileGenesis as part of our integrated solution, we make traceability easy for all brands that are buying Circulose.” This integration aims to simplify what can often be a complex and fragmented process for manufacturers and retailers alike.

The robust traceability system powering this initiative is the innovative Fibercoin system developed by TextileGenesis. This technology assigns a unique digital token to each unit of Circulose, enabling it to meticulously record every transformation step as the material moves through the supply chain. A key feature of Fibercoin is its ability to prevent double-counting, thereby ensuring a secure, real-time chain of custody from the initial pulp stage right through to the final garment. This digital fingerprint provides an immutable record of the material's journey.

Amit Gautam, founder and CEO of TextileGenesis, a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) platform for textile traceability, highlighted the immediate impact of their joint efforts. He declared, “Together, we are proving that traceability is not a future ambition. It is a present-day reality.” This statement reflects a confident assertion that the tools and systems are now in place to deliver on the promise of true supply chain transparency and accountability for circular materials.
