Columbia launches first store in Puerto Rico marking major Caribbean expansion.
Columbia continues its expansion in the Caribbean market with the inauguration of its first store in Puerto Rico, situated at Plaza Carolina in San Juan. The opening, announced on November 25, 2025, represents a significant move for the brand in the Puerto Rican market and forms a key component of its broader regional growth strategy. The project was supported by an initial investment of approximately $1.2 million, allocated for infrastructure development and initial merchandise inventory.
The new venture is projected to have a positive impact on the local economy through the creation of more than 50 jobs, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the island's retail sector. Columbia emphasized that this initiative underscores its commitment to nurturing local talent and establishing a robust and sustainable operational presence within Puerto Rico. The new facility spans 3,846 square feet, equivalent to approximately 357 square meters.
The store has been strategically designed to offer a comprehensive retail experience tailored specifically for outdoor enthusiasts. The inventory includes specialized product lines for various activities, such as trail running, fishing, hiking, and lifestyle apparel, alongside a wide array of technical footwear and accessories. All products available feature Columbia's proprietary technologies, engineered to deliver protection, cooling, warmth, and comfort in diverse environmental and weather conditions.
In terms of commercial strategy, the store's product mix is allocated with a split of 60% menswear and 40% womenswear. The assortment is refreshed continually through the introduction of new collections twice annually. This approach ensures the brand maintains continuous innovation and responds effectively to evolving consumer trends in the outdoor segment, including the global rise of trail running, a category that Columbia officially introduced to its regional assortment this year.
