COS AW25: Effortless Elegance Meets Understated Ease
COS, the distinguished London-based label under the H&M Group, has recently launched its Autumn/Winter 2025 campaign and collection, which perfectly encapsulates a mood-driven aesthetic where "effortless elegance meets understated ease." As a consistent overperformer within the H&M Group portfolio, COS continues to garner significant attention, making its latest seasonal offerings keenly anticipated by the fashion industry and consumers alike.
The AW25 collection is meticulously crafted, distinguished by an unwavering commitment to fine materials, precise tailoring, and subtle yet impactful details. This design philosophy culminates in what the brand describes as a "quietly expressive design language," emphasizing sophistication through thoughtful construction and nuanced aesthetics rather than overt statements.
Capturing the essence of this collection, the campaign was artfully photographed by Carlijn Jacobs in an intimate London studio setting. It features a diverse cast of models including Angelina Kendall and Colin Otto, alongside familiar faces from previous COS shows and campaigns such as Awar Odhiang, Sora Choi, Badhiel Nyang, and Long Li. This ensemble helps to convey the collection's blend of refined individuality and universal appeal.
A significant highlight this season is the rich experimentation across various fabrics and finishes, meticulously applied to bring both depth and new dimensions to the collection. The color palette provides a sophisticated foundation, dominated by dark, inky hues including black, gunmetal, khaki, and deep navy shades. This foundation is further enriched by pronounced textural contrasts, where matte surfaces meet lustrous sheens, and the softness of shearling is juxtaposed with the sleekness of leather. Croc and pony-effect finishes are introduced across both ready-to-wear and accessories, facilitating a considered yet refined approach to layering.
For womenswear, the collection presents a curated wardrobe designed for seamless transitions from day to evening. Structured, 1950s-inspired silhouettes are prominent, emphasizing the waist with feminine cuts and elegant open necklines. A particular standout is a wool coat, distinguished by its rounded, meticulously constructed lines. Material interplay is thoughtfully showcased through matching flannel and wool pieces, creating an overall sense of balance and poise. Sculpted cashmere and gracefully draped volumes introduce softness and movement, offering a beautiful contrast to the collection's precise tailored items, while relaxed knitwear and outerwear are artfully paired with pencil skirts to evoke an aura of confident femininity.
The menswear collection delves into heritage references, reinterpreting traditional forms through outerwear, heavy knitwear, and relaxed tailoring. Classic designs are infused with a modern edge, seen in details such as inside-out lapels, oversized proportions, and sharp shoulders. Tonal layering and complementing fabrications offer a contemporary approach to set dressing, rooted in versatility and ease. Tactile richness is a key feature, with basketweave knits, mélanges, and rib detailing bringing warmth and dimension, all balanced by clean, streamlined silhouettes that expertly merge structure with fluidity.
