Darren Shooter Returns to Tommy Hilfiger to Lead Global Design for Tommy Jeans
Darren Shooter has officially returned to Amsterdam, marking a significant transition in his distinguished career. After an impressive eight-year tenure as Senior Design Director for The North Face in Europe, where he was based in Stabio, Switzerland, and was instrumental in overseeing the performance and lifestyle lines across men’s, women’s, and youth categories, Shooter has now taken on the pivotal role of Vice President of Global Design for Tommy Jeans. This new position sees him operating from the brand’s European headquarters in the Dutch capital.
Shooter is no stranger to the iconic American brand or to the intricate world of denim, bringing a wealth of prior experience to his new leadership role. He previously served as a Senior Designer at Tommy Hilfiger from 2003 to 2009 and later re-engaged with the brand as a Creative Consultant in 2016. This deep-rooted familiarity with Tommy Hilfiger's aesthetic and operational ethos positions him as an ideal candidate to guide the Tommy Jeans line.
Beyond his corporate roles, Shooter has a diverse entrepreneurial background that further enriches his design perspective. In 2009, he founded his own agency, Union Design, through which he provided creative support to numerous fashion and luxury brands until joining The North Face in 2017. Demonstrating his passion for outdoor apparel, he also launched his personal outdoor label, Black Mountain Clothing, in 2015, showcasing his comprehensive understanding of both lifestyle and technical design.
In his new capacity at Tommy Hilfiger, Darren Shooter will be at the helm of the Tommy Jeans line, which is celebrated for its commitment to revisiting and revitalizing 1990s codes, with a particular emphasis on its denim offering. This focus aligns perfectly with the brand's heritage, and significantly, the group’s dedicated denim studio is strategically based in Amsterdam, solidifying the city's role as a key hub for innovation within the brand.
