Dior Appoints Michelin Maestro Yannick Alléno to Lead Culinary Vision at 30 Montaigne
Dior has announced the prestigious appointment of celebrated French chef Yannick Alléno as the culinary director for the Monsieur Dior restaurant, situated within the brand’s opulent Paris flagship at 30 Montaigne. His new role commenced on Tuesday, September 16, marking a significant step in elevating the gastronomic experience at one of the world's most iconic luxury addresses.
Alléno's influence will extend across three distinct culinary spaces within the iconic townhouse that witnessed the birth of the Dior fashion house in 1946. Beyond the flagship Monsieur Dior restaurant, the three-star Michelin chef will also oversee La Pâtisserie, now thoughtfully renamed “Le Jardin,” and Le Café. These venues are envisioned as dedicated spaces celebrating "the art of living," a quintessential French specialty, embodying elegance and refined taste.
Renowned as a true gastronomic revolutionary, Alléno has carved a reputation for fearlessly reinventing traditional French cuisine. His innovative techniques, including advanced methods such as fermentation, extraction, and cryoconcentration, are employed to meticulously enhance sauces and capture the very essence of flavors, delivering an unparalleled sensory experience to diners.
His distinguished career path includes first gaining widespread acclaim as the executive chef at the five-star Hotel Meurice in Paris. This success led to a pivotal collaboration with Bernard Arnault, the CEO of LVMH, the luxury conglomerate that controls Dior, at the esteemed 1947 restaurant located within Cheval Blanc Courchevel, another jewel in the LVMH portfolio.
Approaching this new venture with a thoughtful question – "What would Christian Dior do if he were to create a restaurant today?" – Alléno crafted an exclusive menu for Dior. This culinary collection is meticulously designed to echo the couture universe, with forms and textures reflecting the brand’s archives and iconic looks. Key inspirations for his dishes are deeply rooted in nature and flowers, subjects about which Monsieur Dior himself held immense passion.
A testament to his unparalleled talent and relentless pursuit of culinary perfection, Yannick Alléno is set to be, in 2025, the most Michelin-starred chef in the world. With an astounding 18 restaurants already crowned with a total of 17 stars in the Michelin Guide, Monsieur Dior now proudly becomes the nineteenth establishment under his visionary direction.
