Elisabetta Franchi's Betty Blue Ousts CEO Gabriele Maggio Amidst Board shakeup
Betty Blue, the company behind the renowned Elisabetta Franchi brand, officially announced on Monday, September 27, the immediate termination of Gabriele Maggio's appointment as CEO. The decision was made during a shareholders' meeting and communicated in a brief statement. The company emphasized that this move was "taken in the exclusive interest of the company" and aims to "ensure continuity of management, proper operations, and the company's future strategic development." No further explanations or details regarding Maggio's successor were provided at the time of the announcement.
Gabriele Maggio had assumed the CEO position in February of the previous year, transitioning from his role as chairman and CEO of the British fashion label Stella McCartney. Throughout his distinguished career, Maggio accumulated extensive experience within the luxury sector, having held significant roles at several prestigious fashion houses. His impressive resume includes tenures at Giorgio Armani, Prada, Moschino, Bottega Veneta, and Gucci, contributing to his deep understanding of the high-end fashion market.
This leadership change marks a continued period of significant executive shifts within the Bologna-based company. Earlier in September, Betty Blue also confirmed the conclusion of Marco Bizzarri's term as chairman of the Board of Directors. Bizzarri, formerly the CEO of Gucci, had held this leadership role since April 2024. Following his departure, the company's founder, Elisabetta Franchi, stepped in to assume the position of chairman of the Board of Directors, consolidating her leadership within the brand.
