Estée Lauder Celebrates 60 Years of Innovation and Global Reach at Belgium Campus
The Estée Lauder Companies recently marked a significant milestone, celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of its state-of-the-art Manufacturing & Fulfillment Campus in Oevel, Belgium. This celebratory event brought together a diverse group including dedicated Oevel Campus employees, esteemed Belgian government officials, members of the media, and key leadership figures from The Estée Lauder Companies. Attendees were treated to an insightful tour showcasing the centre's advanced technology, culminating in the unveiling of a commemorative mural that visually represents the campus's rich history and future aspirations.
William P. Lauder, Chair of The Estée Lauder Companies’ Board of Directors, underscored the historical significance of the Oevel Campus during the celebration. He stated, "Nearly sixty years ago, my grandparents, Estée and Joseph Lauder, laid the cornerstone of our first facility here in Oevel, establishing what would become a vital part of our global operations." Mr. Lauder highlighted the campus's evolution from its humble beginnings into a vibrant community and one of the company's most advanced centres for manufacturing and innovation. He emphasized that the Oevel facility profoundly reflects the visionary spirit of his grandmother, Mrs. Estée Lauder, and embodies the core identity of the company today, deeming the anniversary a dual celebration of its people and the enduring partnerships that have forged The Estée Lauder Companies' legacy in Europe.
Established in 1965, the Oevel Campus has grown into a crucial manufacturing, fulfillment, and biotech hub. It stands as one of The Estée Lauder Companies’ largest manufacturing units by volume, demonstrating remarkable productivity. Annually, the facility produces an impressive volume of over 100 million prestige beauty products, which are then meticulously distributed to more than 100 countries worldwide, cementing its pivotal role in the global beauty supply chain.
Today, the Oevel Campus is a sprawling complex, measuring over 100,000 square metres – an astounding five times larger than its original footprint. This expansive site encompasses multiple specialized buildings, each contributing to its comprehensive operational capabilities. The campus is engineered to support over 20 distinct brands, enabling rapid new product launches and personalized manufacturing processes. Its operations are characterized by the seamless integration of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), positioning it at the forefront of modern manufacturing excellence.
Stéphane de La Faverie, President and CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies, articulated a compelling vision for the campus, stating, "The evolution of our Oevel Campus is a powerful reflection of how The Estée Lauder Companies honours its heritage while moving boldly into the future." He further emphasized that the Oevel site, as one of the company's most advanced and sustainable manufacturing locations, exemplifies how they are actively reimagining the beauty industry. This reimagining is driven by a steadfast commitment to innovation, unparalleled quality, and corporate responsibility, all propelled by the unwavering passion and expertise of its dedicated workforce.
