He stated that the Atelier builds upon the company's rich heritage of creativity and innovation, positioning it to drive future growth in the dynamic fragrance category. The facility will integrate world-class expertise, cutting-edge technology, and the artistry of fragrance to enhance innovation across ELC’s extensive portfolio. Situated in what is widely considered the cradle of perfumery, teams at the Atelier will combine advanced technology, data-driven intelligence, and profound olfactive expertise to craft the next generation of extraordinary scents for consumers globally.
The establishment of the Fragrance Atelier represents a pivotal milestone in The Estée Lauder Companies' enduring commitment to the fragrance industry, simultaneously honoring the lifelong passion for perfumes held by its eponymous founder. Designed to seamlessly fuse creativity with advanced science and technology, the Atelier features an AI-enabled, end-to-end creation process. Nestled in the heart of the French capital, the new La Maison des Parfums is an expansive facility spanning 2,000 square meters across five storeys. This immersive environment is poised to serve as a shared innovation engine for all of ELC’s distinguished fragrance labels, which include internationally renowned brands such as Jo Malone London, Le Labo, Tom Ford, and Kilian Paris. The facility boasts specialized innovation spaces, including a unique ‘Music Room’ and advanced laboratories where experts will undertake intricate processes like CO2 supercritical extraction and GCMS molecule analysis. Furthermore, the Atelier will employ neuroscience-based consumer modeling to translate complex sensory data into actionable insights, empowering creators to develop truly emotive and impactful fragrances.
Pascal Cagni, French Ambassador for International Investments and Chairman of the Board of Business France, lauded ELC's decision, expressing profound pride that the company chose France for its new Fragrance Atelier. He underscored that this choice unequivocally demonstrates the confidence international leaders place in French excellence, which is powered by a unique ecosystem of creative talent, innovation, and globally recognized expertise. Cagni highlighted the formidable strength of the French perfume and cosmetics industry, which generates over 30 billion euros in revenue and stands as a key driver of economic growth and attractiveness for the nation.
This new facility further solidifies The Estée Lauder Companies' extensive global research and innovation network, which also encompasses facilities in the US, China, other parts of Europe, and Canada, each promoting discovery across the business’ operations. ELC's deep roots in France are evident, as the company employs over 1,200 individuals in the country, and several of its prominent brands, including Darphin Paris and Lab Series, maintain their headquarters there. The Fragrance Atelier thus significantly deepens ELC's unwavering commitment to both the nation of France and the global fragrance industry at large.
