Farm Rio Debuts Los Cabos Store Celebrating Latin American Artistry and Heritage
Farm Rio has expanded its footprint in Mexico with the unveiling of its second store, located in Los Cabos. The new location, situated at Ánima Village, was developed in collaboration with Brazilian architect and designer Marcelo Rosenbaum. Spanning 138 square meters, the space features eight-meter-high ceilings and an open, light-filled layout designed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Latin America, a core tenet of the brand’s aesthetic.
A significant focus on local and regional craftsmanship defines the store’s unique interior. Mexican design studio Lordag & Sondag contributed custom lighting and hardware installations throughout the space. The studio created eight large lighting fixtures made entirely from straw, each installation designed to represent a different stage of a flower’s bloom. Additionally, Lordag & Sondag designed custom details, including door handles shaped like female spider monkeys and wall hooks inspired by strelitzia flowers.
The commitment to artisanal techniques extends to other design elements. Marva Studio, led by José Bañuelos, utilized ancestral techniques by artisan families in Tangancícuaro, Michoacán, to produce ceramic tiles. These tiles adorn the store’s entrance niches and checkout area, adding a layer of authenticity and cultural depth. Further enhancing the space are furnishings from Colombian studio Alta, which created one table and five displays embellished with intricate beadwork that forms patterns inspired by rainforest insects and Caribbean corals.
The design narrative culminates in a distinctive fitting room installation created by Brazilian artist and educator Stela Barbieri as part of her "Casulo" project, constructed from raw cotton weaving and embroidered seeds. While emphasizing new collaborations, the store maintains familiar brand elements, including wallpaper by French artist Dominique Jardy. The Los Cabos location showcases approximately 120 SKUs from the brand’s Fall–Winter 2025 collection on a sculptural display rack. This opening follows Farm Rio’s debut in Mexico City earlier this year at Artz Pedregal and brings the brand’s total international footprint to 15 locations worldwide.
