Fashionphile Takes Over UK Luxury Resale Market with Luxe Collective Acquisition

Luxury re-commerce pioneer Fashionphile has officially entered the UK market, marking a significant strategic move through the acquisition of key assets from the former UK-based luxury resale marketplace, Luxe Collective. This includes Luxe Collective’s intellectual property, its valuable customer database, and established social media channels, signaling Fashionphile's ambition to expand its global footprint.

Luxe Collective, founded in 2018 by brothers Ben and Joe Gallagher, quickly gained prominence within the luxury resale sector. The brand was celebrated for its distinctive voice, robust community engagement, and impressive growth trajectory. However, the company faced insurmountable operational and financial challenges following a high-value theft last year, which ultimately led to its inability to recover and subsequent cessation of operations.

Under the terms of this new agreement, Fashionphile will immediately launch its UK presence as Fashionphile UK, commencing operations via the domain LuxeCollectiveFashion.com. The widely recognized social media channels of Luxe Collective are set to evolve into "Fashionphile Collective," serving as a bridge to its existing community. Looking ahead, Fashionphile UK plans to further solidify its presence with the establishment of a flagship authentication center and retail store in London.

This strategic acquisition represents Fashionphile's inaugural major foray into the vibrant UK and broader European markets. The move is a direct alignment with the company's ambitious vision to solidify its position as the world's premier brand for buying and selling ultra-luxury accessories. Ben Hemminger, co-founder and CEO of Fashionphile, emphasized the synergistic potential, stating, "This acquisition allows us to combine Luxe Collective's cultural relevance and strong community with Fashionphile's scale, technology, and authentication expertise. The UK has a rich history of luxury resale, but no one is doing it our way at real scale. Together with Ben and Joe Gallagher, we intend to change that."

A crucial element of the acquisition involves the integration of Luxe Collective’s founders into the Fashionphile UK leadership. Ben Gallagher will assume the role of Director of Brand Marketing, while Joe Gallagher will serve as Director of Operations for Fashionphile UK. Sarah Davis, founder and president of Fashionphile, expressed her enthusiasm for preserving Luxe Collective’s unique identity: "Luxe Collective has always been about more than resale. Ben and Joe have built a real community that connects with luxury in a fresh and authentic way. The hardships they faced last year were heartbreaking not only for Joe and Ben, but also their entire community. We could not be more thrilled to help bring a breath of life back into the essence of what Ben & Joe Gallagher started. This is about preserving their voice and giving it the resources to thrive on an international stage.”

This latest acquisition underscores Fashionphile’s ongoing and aggressive global expansion strategy. In 2023, the company successfully acquired the brand assets of Canadian luxury resale retailer LXRandCo. This was followed by another significant acquisition in 2024, when Fashionphile brought Montreal-based Two Authenticators Inc., a distributor of authenticated vintage goods, under its umbrella, further strengthening its supply chain and authentication capabilities.
