Fear of God Moves European Design Hub from Milan to Paris
Fear of God, the Los Angeles-based premium street-couture label founded in 2013 by Jerry Lorenzo, is making a significant organizational move by relocating its European operations from Milan to Paris. This strategic shift involves the Milan branch, which encompasses crucial product development and design teams, and comes shortly after Frenchman Bastien Daguzan took the helm of the brand in fall 2024. The transition of these European activities to the French capital marks a new chapter for the rapidly growing brand.
Despite this European reorganization, the brand has clarified that Fear of God's head office will remain firmly rooted in California. The company describes the European change as an "organizational decision," with the new Paris office specifically becoming part of the brand's "business division." Previously, the Milan office operated with a staff of around twenty, primarily focused on design and product development, though it also handled a portion of sales. This Italian presence was particularly vital given that the majority of Fear of God's main products are produced in Italy, where tailoring plays an increasingly important role and materials are sourced directly from the Peninsula.
Under Jerry Lorenzo's visionary leadership, Fear of God has emerged as a pioneer in luxury streetwear, undergoing a radical evolution and experiencing rapid growth in recent years. Lorenzo has consistently maintained his signature minimalist style while expanding the brand's offerings to include a complete wardrobe for both women and men. This encompasses pieces suitable for the most casual moments to the most elegant, primarily through its main line. Complementing this, the more accessible and sporty "Essentials" line focuses on core jersey and fleece items, such as T-shirts, hoodies, and tracksuits.
The decision to move a design and product-focused unit from Milan, despite its close ties to Fear of God's established network of Italian suppliers and manufacturers, might initially seem counter-intuitive. However, the arrival of Bastien Daguzan as the brand's leader has evidently sharpened the focus on Paris, indicating a broader strategic objective. This shift is further evidenced by the brand having presented its collection in the French capital last season, and the recent recruitment of Frenchwoman Catherine Jacquet as Director of Operations, reinforcing its growing presence and talent base in France.
Establishing a prominent presence in Paris, widely recognized as the City of Light and the undisputed fashion capital of the world, is expected to significantly bolster Fear of God's aura and enhance its image as a luxury brand. While the label's headquarters and main activities will continue to thrive in Los Angeles, the strategic relocation of its European operations to Paris underscores a deliberate effort to strengthen its global standing and cement its position within the upper echelons of the luxury fashion landscape.
