FORA Sunglasses and Sofia de Moser Leitão fuse eyewear design with vibrant ceramics
The acclaimed Portuguese brand FORA Sunglasses, established in Lisbon in 2014 from a deep passion for vintage eyewear design, has recently unveiled an exciting new collaboration. This partnership sees them team up with Sofia de Moser Leitão, a distinguished ceramicist and content creator, notably recognized as part of the Mango Girls community. The collaboration meticulously crafts a compelling dialogue between diverse materials, functions, and creative realms, culminating in an exclusive collection of six unique ceramic glasses that redefine the boundaries of artistic expression.
FORA articulated its vision in a press release, stating, "We challenged ceramicist Sofia de Moser Leitão to create an exclusive collection of ceramic pieces that represented a fusion between the two identities, blending eyewear design with organic shapes and playful colors." The brand further elaborated on the artist's inventive approach: "The Portuguese artist deconstructed FORA's frames and reinterpreted them in a vibrant visual setting, with humor and shapes that invite touch." Emphasizing the collection's heritage, FORA proudly added, "With a Portuguese soul, this collection was designed and handmade in Paris by Sofia de Moser Leitão," highlighting the creative's base in the French capital since 2019.
Sofia de Moser Leitão has dedicated approximately seven years to the art of ceramics, a journey that began during her after-school master's degree in Cultural Management in Lisbon. Her formative training took place at a renowned atelier in Graça and through an intensive ceramics course at Ar.Co - Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual. This robust foundation has equipped her with a distinctive artistic language that FORA was eager to integrate into their brand narrative.
Reinforcing their commitment to creative synergy, FORA stated on their website, "At FORA, we believe in the power of creative collaborations and this time we've invited Portuguese ceramicist Sofia de Moser Leitão to reinterpret our frames through her unique artistic language." De Moser Leitão herself confessed the joy she found in the process: "I had a lot of fun deconstructing FORA's frames and reinterpreting them in my visual universe, colorful, with organic shapes and a touch of humor. It's a dialog between the 'rigor' of eyewear design and my creative universe." Each piece, handmade in her Paris studio, encapsulates a profound Portuguese soul and a playful spirit that beckons interaction.
The culmination of this artistic endeavor is an exclusive collection of six ceramic pieces, described on FORA's website as embodying "the synergy between our two identities: FORA's timeless design and Sofia's organic, fun, and humorous art." This collaboration transcends mere product creation, offering vibrant, tactile, and unexpected objects that celebrate the harmonious blend of structured design with unbridled artistic freedom.
