Foxtale Pivots to House of Brands Model With Launch of Body Care Label Hula Hoop

The Indian skincare company Foxtale has announced a significant strategic pivot, transitioning from operating solely as a direct-to-consumer label to establishing itself as a house of brands. This evolution is marked by the launch of its new brand, Hula Hoop by Foxtale, which expands the company's portfolio into the targeted body care category.

Romita Mazumdar, founder and CEO of both Foxtale and Hula Hoop by Foxtale, stated that this move represents a "new chapter" for the company. She emphasized that the strategy extends beyond simply launching a single new brand; instead, it focuses on building a diverse portfolio designed to address the evolving and varied needs of consumers across multiple categories. Mazumdar articulated the overarching ambition to "create category-defining brands rooted in efficacy, scientific rigour, and customer obsession."

Hula Hoop by Foxtale is positioned specifically as a "problem-solving body care" brand, dedicated to providing "derm-grade solutions" for common skin concerns. The initial product lineup targets issues such as body acne, pigmentation, keratosis pilaris, dryness, and overall skin health. The new brand officially launched on December 9 with four core products: a Brightening Body Wash, an Exfoliating Body Wash, a Brightening Body Lotion, and an Exfoliating Body Scrub. These products are available for purchase on the brand's proprietary e-commerce store, as well as through various multi-brand retailers.

Looking ahead, Hula Hoop by Foxtale plans to continue expanding its retail presence in the coming months. Mazumdar expressed a long-term vision to "build brands that are scientifically advanced, culturally relevant and accessible at scale." She concluded that Hula Hoop represents the company's commitment to innovation and its broader goal of shaping the future of beauty and personal care in the Indian market.

The transition to a house of brands model comes on the heels of impressive performance metrics for Foxtale. Over the past year, the company reported a substantial 250% year-on-year growth and achieved a 50% repeat purchase rate through its direct-to-consumer website. Additionally, Foxtale announced that it has surpassed the significant financial milestone of Rs 700 crore in topline Gross Merchandise Value (GMV).
