Gauthier Borsarello departs Fursac after five-year tenure repositioning the brand for Paris Fashion Week.

Gauthier Borsarello, who served as creative director for Fursac for five years, recently announced his departure from the French menswear brand. During his tenure, Borsarello, a vintage specialist and co-founder of *L'étiquette* magazine, was instrumental in repositioning the label, which was formerly known as De Fursac when he joined following its acquisition by the SMCP group. He successfully guided Fursac onto the official Paris Fashion Week calendar, staging the brand's first presentation for the Spring/Summer 2023 season and culminating in a catwalk show for Autumn/Winter 2025-2026 before announcing his exit in mid-December.

Borsarello shared his departure message via his Instagram account on December 12, expressing gratitude to SMCP leadership, including Daniel Lalonde, Elina Kousourna, and Evelyne Chetrite. He described the chapter as "meaningful, both creatively and professionally," and thanked the team for the trust and freedom provided to contribute to the brand's evolution. "I am particularly proud of the studio, design, image, and communications, and of what we have achieved together: bringing the brand onto the official Fashion Week calendar after just one season, and continuing this journey through to the Paris Fashion Week show in January 2025. Thank you for the experience, perspective, and relationships built along the way," he stated in his message.

Over his five years at the creative helm, Borsarello remained faithful to Fursac's formal roots while modernizing its aesthetic. He introduced updated silhouettes, strengthened the casual wardrobe, and placed a heightened focus on fabric choices. His creative references evolved significantly, broadening from inspirations like football and surfing to encompass a more avant-garde universe centered on music and the arts. This shift was exemplified in his Spring/Summer 2025 presentation through a collaboration with artist Lionel Estève, whose work is exhibited at the Musée Picasso in Paris.

SMCP confirmed Borsarello’s departure and outlined immediate operational changes. "The group's studio teams have taken over and are currently working on finalising the FW 2026 collection," noted Isabelle Guichot, SMCP's chief executive. The brand also appointed Louise Bousquet-Andreani as its new managing director at the start of the year.

Simultaneously, changes are underway at Fursac's historic headquarters and boutique in Paris. Activity at the premises and boutique on the corner of Richelieu-Drouot, located on the Grands Boulevards, has been temporarily paused. The staff from the rue Richelieu boutique have been redeployed to other Parisian stores, specifically during the end-of-year sales period. SMCP hopes to reopen the boutique in early 2026. Isabelle Guichot explained that "as part of the change of ownership of the building, SMCP has decided to bring Fursac's head office teams into its offices in the 1st arrondissement of Paris."

Fursac is reported under SMCP's "Other Brands" segment, alongside Claudie Pierlot, within the group's financial results. This division generated €167 million in revenue in 2023, declining to €148 million in 2024. However, sales remained stable year-over-year in the first nine months of 2025, reaching €108 million, contributing to a total group revenue of €895 million. The group's current majority shareholders also announced their intention to sell their shares on November 27, following legal proceedings concerning the actions of a former shareholder.
