Goa's Noun: Where Craft, Culture, and Commerce Meet in a New Retail Experience

Future Collective India, a platform dedicated to responsible design, has unveiled Noun, a new multi-brand store concept in Goa, measuring 753 square feet. This innovative venture aims to seamlessly integrate craft, culture, and commerce within a thoughtfully designed space. Noun represents a significant step for Future Collective India in fostering a unique retail experience.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Siolim, Goa, Noun has opened its doors featuring a meticulously curated selection of apparel, accessories, and jewellery from various independent Indian designers. Co-founder Roma Narsinghani emphasized their vision, stating, “We didn’t want to build another concept store, but a context-driven space where people remember how to look, touch, and listen.” The store's interior blends industrial elements, such as raw bricks crafted from excavated soil and sawdust by Solarpunk Futures, and metal chains alongside natural wood features by Lakkad, creating a contemplative and modern ambiance that complements its natural surroundings of paddy fields.

Future Collective India describes Noun as a “retail residency,” with its inaugural edition slated to run until December 15. This first chapter, titled “Muscle Memory,” delves into the essence of craft-driven brands, including Helm, Lafaani, Kastoor, Lmnoh, Chola, Begum Sitara Baroodi, and Project Qaafi, among others. The curation explores the profound impact of embodied knowledge and rhythm on both the creators and their creations.

Future Collective India was founded by jewellery designer Roma Narsinghani in collaboration with Shreya Sharma, who was responsible for Noun’s design and co-curation. The collective is committed to enriching India’s evolving design discourse and has previously spearheaded several notable initiatives, such as ‘Shelter’ and ‘The Conscious Culture Fair,’ demonstrating its dedication to conscious and cultural engagement within the design community.

Following the conclusion of “Muscle Memory,” Noun will launch its subsequent chapter, “Better Daze,” which will be open from December 18 and continue until January 31, 2026. This forthcoming retail curation is set to highlight a diverse array of local and sustainable brands, including Button Masala, Malai Biomaterials, Manish Arora, and Pieux, further solidifying Noun’s commitment to responsible and forward-thinking design.
