Gucci Taps Ex-Renault Exec Gianluca de Ficchy as New CFO Amidst Kering Overhaul
Gucci, the prominent Kering SA brand, has announced the appointment of Gianluca de Ficchy, formerly a top executive at Renault SA, as its new chief financial officer. De Ficchy is set to commence his role at the Italian fashion powerhouse on December 1st. He will report directly to Francesca Bellettini, Gucci’s president and chief executive officer, signaling a key addition to the brand's leadership team.
This strategic move comes amidst a significant period of change and revitalization efforts at Kering. The luxury group, under its new Chief Executive Officer Luca de Meo, is actively working to address recent challenges, particularly within its flagship brand, Gucci. Despite accounting for over half of Kering’s total profit, Gucci has faced difficulties in its rebound, making the appointment of experienced leadership crucial. De Meo himself, who took the helm at Kering in September, previously served as the CEO of Renault.
Gianluca de Ficchy brings a wealth of experience from the automotive sector to the luxury fashion world. Prior to joining Gucci, he most recently served as the CEO of Mobilize, Renault’s dedicated mobility business unit. In this role, de Ficchy oversaw a diverse portfolio of operations, including auto financing, innovative car-sharing solutions, and critical electric-vehicle charging services. He concluded his tenure at Renault in October, paving the way for his transition to Gucci.
De Ficchy's arrival follows the departure of Alberto Valente, Gucci’s former chief financial, data, and operations officer, who left the company in September after dedicating nearly 17 years to the brand. This executive change at Gucci is part of a broader trend of Kering recruiting talent from Renault. Notably, Kering also recently brought on Philippine de Schonen, who previously headed M&A and investor relations at Renault, to lead its own Investor Relations department. These appointments underscore Kering's strategic alignment and shared vision under Luca de Meo's leadership.
