Hed Mayner to Headline Pitti Uomo as Distinguished Guest Designer
Pitti Immagine has officially announced that acclaimed Israeli fashion designer Hed Mayner, the visionary founder and creative director behind his eponymous brand, will grace the next edition of the Florentine trade fair as its distinguished guest designer. This highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place from January 13-16, 2026, marking a significant moment for the industry as Mayner brings his unique perspective to the renowned platform.
Francesca Tacconi, Special Events Coordinator at Pitti Immagine, eloquently captured the essence of Mayner's work, noting that "creating is thinking with your hands," a philosophy subtly woven into each of his collections. Tacconi emphasized that the body is central to Mayner's thought process, serving as the common denominator for attitude, movement, fit, and individual taste. She described his approach as conceptual, almost architectural, yet engaged in a vibrant dialogue with the fluidity of the present. His garments masterfully blend strength with lightness, savoir-faire with expert tailoring, resulting in pieces that appear to float on the body while being rich in physicality and defying conventional rules of gender, occasion, and even gravity through their sculptural, outsized forms.
The anticipation for Mayner's Florentine debut is palpable within Pitti Immagine. Tacconi further highlighted the delicate balance Hed achieves with seemingly effortless grace in every piece, often through calculated dissonances: poetry and comfort, freedom and rigour, culture and craftsmanship. For these reasons and more, the organization eagerly awaits Hed Mayner's presence at Pitti Uomo next January, keen to discover the special show-event he is meticulously devising for the occasion. This unique presentation promises to be an embodiment of his unmistakable style, set against the historic backdrop of Florence.
Hed Mayner’s journey into fashion began early; based in Paris, he developed an interest at just 16, immersing himself in working with leather, jewelry, and hand-stitching, alongside cultivating a deep passion for tailoring. His formal education at the Institut Français de la Mode in Paris was pivotal, where he not only honed his technical skills but also refined a personal vision that distinctively combines sartorial rigour with formal freedom and an authentic sense of self-expression. This foundational training laid the groundwork for his future brand's identity.
After completing his studies, Mayner established his own brand, quickly developing a sophisticated stylistic language characterized by generous volumes, fluid fabrics, and impeccable construction. His collections consistently express a captivating tension between strength and delicacy, structure and movement. This results in garments that exquisitely balance masculine solidity with a contemporary sensuality. Signature pieces such as wide-leg trousers, soft shirts, and sculptural jackets reveal his meticulous attention to cut and detail, while a palette of neutral, natural tones further elevates the purity of his forms and the inherent quality of the materials he employs.
A consistent fixture on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar, Hed Mayner's talent and vision garnered significant industry recognition when he received the LVMH Group’s prestigious Karl Lagerfeld Prize in 2019. This distinction not only cemented his status but also affirmed his position as one of the most significant voices among the new generation of designers. His high-quality garments are produced in Italy and enjoy international distribution in leading luxury boutiques worldwide, including Dover Street Market, United Arrows, Galeries Lafayette, and Antonia. Beyond his own label, Mayner has engaged in several notable collaborations and has served as the creative helm for Reebok for the past two years, showcasing his versatility and broad influence.
Expressing his gratitude for the upcoming opportunity, Hed Mayner commented, "I want to thank Pitti Uomo for the invitation to present my new collection in January. It is a great honour to be part of Pitti, which truly supports creativity, and I am thrilled to present my work in a city as rich in history as Florence. This new setting will spur me on to try new things." His words reflect a genuine excitement to engage with the historic city and to push the boundaries of his creative expression within such a revered context.
