Initio Parfums Privés Unlocks Your Subconscious Scent Preferences with AI and Neuroscience
Initio Parfums Privés, the distinguished French niche fragrance house, is pioneering a new frontier in personalized perfumery with the launch of its "Feel Lab Experience." This innovative program represents a convergence of perfumery, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence, designed to offer customers a uniquely immersive and data-driven approach to fragrance selection. Developed through a strategic partnership with Feel’Tech by Micropole, BrainCo, and the Harvard Innovation Lab, the experience invites individuals to delve into their subconscious emotional responses to scents.
At the heart of the Feel Lab Experience is a sophisticated process where customers wear an electroencephalography (EEG) headband. This advanced device, equipped with sensitive sensors, meticulously records their brain activity as they engage in a fragrance discovery session. The captured brainwaves are then subjected to detailed analysis, providing profound insights into unconscious preferences and the specific degree of well-being a particular fragrance elicits. Initio emphasizes that while this scientific approach uncovers deep-seated connections, it serves as an insightful guide rather than a replacement for the customer’s ultimate personal choice.
The groundbreaking initiative is set to debut this month at Initio Parfums Privés’ flagship boutique in Paris, marking the initial phase of what will be a selective international rollout. This endeavor further solidifies Initio's strategic vision of positioning perfume as an deeply emotional and immersive journey. In alignment with this long-term strategy, the house previously formalized a significant partnership with dsm-firmenich, a leading supplier of fragrance ingredients, in April. This collaboration aims to deepen ongoing research into the intricate interactions between olfactory molecules and human emotions.
This period of innovation and strategic expansion for Initio is bolstered by the impressive performance of its parent company, the Sprecher Berrier Group of Companies, which also owns Parfums de Marly. The group reported robust retail sales of $775 million for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, representing a substantial 41% increase. This strong financial backdrop sets the stage for the group's next phase of development, which includes a significant leadership change: Patrice Béliard, a seasoned executive from Shiseido and Estée Lauder, will assume the role of CEO on October 1, succeeding Julien Sausset, who has been instrumental in driving the remarkable expansion of both Initio and Parfums de Marly since 2016.
With Initio Parfums Privés itself experiencing a remarkable 50% growth in retail sales over the past year, reaching $189 million, the brand is firmly reaffirming its commitment to integrating luxury, cutting-edge innovation, and cognitive science. This ambitious strategy is designed to further strengthen its prominent foothold within the competitive global niche perfumery market, demonstrating a clear path forward where science and artistry converge.
