Jacquemus Honors Motherhood with New 'Le Valérie' Bag and Expands Retail Footprint

Jacquemus recently unveiled "Le Valérie," the latest accessory from its "Le Paysan" collection, to a global audience. The new bag made its debut on Wednesday in simultaneous events held in four major fashion capitals: Paris, Los Angeles, London, and New York. The poignant name, "Le Valérie," serves as a heartfelt tribute to designer Simon Porte Jacquemus's mother, drawing inspiration from his childhood spent in the south of France and his family's rich rural heritage.

During exclusive sneak previews in flagship stores like the one in Los Angeles, friends of the brand and journalists were introduced to the versatile new offering. Available in two distinct sizes, "Le Petit Valérie" and "Le Valérie," the bags are crafted from a selection of premium materials including calf leather, suede, and goatskin. Each model features a distinctive magnetic jewel clasp and is offered in a curated palette of four to six colors. Pricing for this new luxury accessory is set at $1,690 for the small model and $2,090 for the larger version.

To enhance the launch experience, Jacquemus embraced a creative market theme, reminiscent of the Los Angeles store's opening last April. Attendees were greeted by crates overflowing with real fruits and vegetables, creating an immersive and authentic atmosphere. Customers also had the unique opportunity to personalize their new bags with a charming array of whimsical charms, including carrots, cherries, garlic, bananas, lemons, donkeys, and hammers. A highlight of the presentation was the presence of a craftsman on-site, offering bespoke embossing of initials for those purchasing a Valérie bag.

Jacquemus himself shared insights into the inspiration behind the bag on the brand's Instagram account, stating, "I believe it’s thanks to my mother that I’ve always kept this childlike gaze." He further elaborated on his fascination with femininity, expressing a desire to convey "that way I look at this femininity with the same wide-eyed wonder I still carry today. Thank you for making me love women so deeply." This sentiment was echoed in a comical accompanying Instagram campaign featuring actress Charlotte Le Bon, which the designer described as "A nod to my mother's spirit, with a touch of humor and poetry."

The global rollout of the Le Valérie bag is set to continue with official announcements in additional key markets. On November 19, the bag will be introduced in South Korea, specifically at the Lotte and Shinsegae department stores in Seoul and Busan, as well as at the Dubai Mall in Dubai.

Further demonstrating the brand's expansion, Jacquemus is also preparing for the grand opening of a new permanent boutique on November 25, coinciding with the eve of Thanksgiving. This strategic new location will be situated at the iconic Rosewood Miramar Beach hotel in Montecito, a renowned celebrity haven near Santa Barbara. The boutique will hold a prestigious position, directly across from Chanel and adjacent to other luxury powerhouses such as Bottega Veneta, Zegna, Brunello Cucinelli, David Webb, The Webster, and Loro Piana. This move follows Jacquemus's successful ventures into resort destinations last summer, with pop-ups at exclusive locations like the Monte-Carlo Beach Club and The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort Bahamas.
