John Lewis Partnership Boosts Leadership with New Merchandising and People Chiefs
The John Lewis Partnership has announced two significant appointments to its leadership team, reinforcing its strategic direction in both commercial merchandising and people management. These key hires see Anna Milne step into the newly created role of Director of Merchandising, while Helen Webb takes on the position of Chief People Officer, succeeding the interim post holder.
Anna Milne is set to join the management board as Director of Merchandising on November 17th, reporting directly to Chief Commercial Officer Vikki Kavanagh. Milne brings a formidable nearly two decades of experience within the retail sector, with a proven track record in meticulously curating exceptional product ranges. Her extensive knowledge of the fashion industry is particularly notable, having honed her skills in pivotal merchandising roles at renowned companies such as House of Fraser, ASOS, Jules B, and The Outnet. Most recently, she served as Merchandising Director for the esteemed luxury lifestyle brands, Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter.
Commenting on Milne’s appointment, Vikki Kavanagh expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Anna will be a fantastic addition to our team, bringing a wealth of experience to the role. Her leadership will be crucial for ensuring that our shops are fully stocked with a fantastic assortment of inspiring products.” This highlights the strategic importance of Milne’s role in enhancing the customer offering and operational efficiency across the Partnership.
Joining the Partnership on November 24th, Helen Webb will assume the vital role of Chief People Officer. Webb’s appointment is underpinned by an impressive career spanning 30 years, during which she has held senior people leadership and organisational development positions across various retail and other sectors. Her extensive background includes serving as Chief People Officer at WHSmith most recently, alongside significant tenures at Sainsbury’s, where she progressed to Central Retail Director, and Marks & Spencer. She steps into the role previously held by Jo Rackham, who served as Interim Chief People Officer for 18 months.
