JW Anderson Opens New London Flagship Proving Brand Vitality Under Jonathan Anderson

The notion that the JW Anderson label would diminish in importance following Jonathan Anderson's appointment as creative chief at Dior has proven entirely false. Recent developments demonstrate that Anderson remains deeply committed to his namesake brand, with JWA clearly occupying a central position in his creative focus.

This commitment was recently evidenced by the opening of a new store on Pimlico Road, London. The location itself, known for its concentration of antique stores, design boutiques, and homewares specialists, provides a natural backdrop for the brand's increasingly prominent Home and Garden collection.

The design philosophy dictates that each of the label's locations should absorb and reflect its environment. At this new space, situated within an area defined by timeless design, the Home and Garden collection takes center stage, complemented by selections from the brand’s Ready-to-Wear, Shoes, and Accessories lines.

A significant focus is placed on art, featuring an inaugural installation of six sculptural sconces by British artist Kira Freije. The works, which incorporate craft processes like welding and glassblowing, will be available exclusively in-store until February. The ready-to-wear pieces from the new collection, some rooted in local craftsmanship, are displayed alongside objects created through collaborations with international artisans.

Anderson's approach to curation, described as an "utterly personal passion," is channeled into the re-articulated JW Anderson brand. The store concept, developed by architects Sanchez Benton (who also designed the Soho and Milan flagships), spans two floors. Its layout is defined by velvet paneling that creates intimate, distinct rooms. In addition to the main retail area, the lower ground floor houses a dedicated Press and VIP Salon, offering a private environment for clients.

The opening of the Pimlico Road location comes hot on the heels of a temporary Miami pop-up store. That space opened during Art Week in partnership with luxury retailer The Webster and concluded on December 15th, further demonstrating the label's continued global activity.
