Lenzing Appoints Communications Leader Milena Ioveva to Drive Global Growth and Stakeholder Engagement

Austrian fiber specialist Lenzing has announced the appointment of Milena Ioveva as Vice President, a crucial role overseeing Corporate Communications, Sustainability, Investor Relations, and Public Affairs. This strategic move underscores Lenzing's commitment to strengthening its global presence and enhancing stakeholder engagement as it navigates a period of significant growth and transformation.

Ioveva brings a rich background and extensive experience, primarily from the construction sector, to her new position. Prior to joining Lenzing, she held the demanding role of Director of Communications and Strategy at the Porr Group. Her expertise in capital markets and strategic positioning was also honed during her tenure as head of investor relations for the Vienna-based construction group UBM, showcasing her proven ability to drive value in dynamic environments.

Rohit Aggarwal, CEO of Lenzing, emphasized the strategic importance of Ioveva's appointment, stating, "As Lenzing continues its international expansion, effective communication with all our stakeholders will be paramount. Milena’s proven track record in driving value during periods of transformation—combined with her strong expertise in capital markets and strategic positioning—will be key to realizing our ambitious goals." This highlights the company's focus on clear and consistent messaging across its diverse stakeholder base.

The appointment comes as Lenzing experiences a robust return to growth. In 2024, the company reported a significant increase in sales, reaching €2.66 billion, a 5.7% rise, with net income soaring to €593 million. This positive financial performance follows a period of major structural changes last year, including the acquisition of 15% of its shares by Brazilian conglomerate Suzano, which also led to the appointment of a new CEO, signaling a refreshed strategic direction.

Lenzing, renowned for its wood-based cellulose fibers, is strategically positioning its sustainable alternatives as a vital solution in the global textile market. While cellulose fibers currently account for approximately 5% of global fiber production—behind dominant players like polyester (57%) and cotton (20%)—Lenzing sees immense potential. The company's innovative, wood-derived fibers offer a compelling answer to the increasing limitations faced by cotton farming and address the environmental and health challenges associated with synthetic and untreated natural fibers, aligning with a growing demand for eco-friendly solutions.
