Leonard Paris parts ways with creative director as financial challenges mount.

Leonard Paris is entering a period of significant transition following the announcement that it has parted ways with Creative Director Georg Lux. The German designer, who joined the French luxury house in January 2021, and the brand have mutually agreed to conclude their collaboration. In a statement issued by the house, Georg Lux described his tenure as a "precious chapter" in his career, highlighting the privilege of engaging with Leonard's heritage while imprinting it with his personal vision.

Lux's mission was to support a reinterpretation of the brand's historic DNA. His collections sought to marry Leonard's visual heritage—particularly its iconic silk jersey and intricate floral prints—with a more contemporary vocabulary designed to appeal to an international clientele. Yuichi Nishi, president of Leonard Paris, praised the collaboration, calling it "fruitful" and commending Lux for his ability to honor the house's fundamental codes while demonstrating creative boldness during his tenure.

This change comes at a pivotal moment for Leonard, as artistic renewal intersects with significant economic challenges. The company's financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2024, reflect a substantial downturn in business. Net revenue for the period totaled €6.77 million, compared with €7.26 million in 2023, confirming a pattern of erosion observed in recent years. This decline was accompanied by a net loss in 2024, following a loss already recorded the previous year, despite shareholder support and efforts to creatively reposition the brand.

Acquired in 2022 by its long-standing Japanese partner Sankyo Seiko, Leonard has been working to consolidate its positioning within a rapidly transforming luxury market. The brand faces intensified competition and the greatly expanded communications capabilities of major luxury groups, making the successful repositioning and artistic direction essential for future growth. Leonard Paris stated that it is approaching this transition "with serenity and ambition" and announced that details regarding the new creative direction will be unveiled shortly.
