London Fashion Week Returns with Tributes, New Talent, and Notable Comebacks

London Fashion Week is gearing up for a bustling season in February, unveiling a comprehensive calendar filled with returning favorites and poignant tributes. The event, scheduled from Thursday, February 19th to Monday, February 23rd, promises a dynamic showcase of emerging and established talent, presenting the Fall/Winter 2025/26 collections.

The official calendar, released by the British Fashion Council, details a packed schedule featuring 46 runway shows and 15 presentations. In addition to the physical shows, the final day will spotlight 19 digital displays from up-and-coming designers, further emphasizing the event's commitment to nurturing new talent.

A particularly significant moment will be the opening of the season at noon on Thursday, with a posthumous show honoring the late Paul Costelloe. The renowned Irish designer, celebrated for his work as Princess Diana’s personal designer, passed away in November at the age of 80. The show serves as a fitting tribute to his legacy and contribution to the fashion world.

The week will culminate with a highly anticipated evening show by Burberry, the UK’s leading luxury label, led by designer Daniel Lee. The closing show is expected to draw significant attention and solidify Burberry’s position as a cornerstone of London Fashion Week.

Notably, the iconic British label Joseph is making a triumphant return to London after a seven-year absence. Creative Director Mario Arena will present his second collection for the brand, marking a fresh chapter for Joseph and a welcome addition to the LFW lineup. Another notable comeback is that of Julien Macdonald, who will grace the runways once again after a five-year hiatus.

Alongside these returning names, London’s established design powerhouses will also be present. Expect to see collections from Erdem, Simone Rocha, Richard Quinn, and Harris Reed, showcasing the breadth and depth of British design talent.

However, the calendar isn't without its absences. Several respected female designers, including Roksanda and Molly Goddard, will not be participating this season. Furthermore, J.W. Anderson, previously a highly sought-after show, will be missing as the Northern Irish designer shifts the brand's focus towards a lifestyle concept and his role as creative director at Dior in Paris.

Despite the absence of some familiar names, London Fashion Week remains a crucial platform for discovering emerging talent. Hundreds of buyers and editors are expected to attend graduate shows and multi-designer showcases, such as Fashion East, widely regarded as a premier incubator for new fashion talent from institutions like Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, and Loughborough University.
