Mahbobeh Sabetnia Departs Otto Group Executive Board After Six Months
Mahbobeh Sabetnia is departing the Otto Group's executive board after a remarkably brief tenure, having joined the prominent Hamburg-based retail group just six months ago. Sabetnia, a highly sought-after digital executive, assumed her role in May, overseeing critical areas including technology, business intelligence, e-commerce, and corporate ventures.
Her swift exit comes after she took over these significant responsibilities from Sebastian Klauke. During her short time with the Otto Group, Sabetnia was instrumental in advancing the company's digital and AI agenda, making substantial contributions to strengthening its technological orientation within her designated remit.
Following her departure, Sabetnia's extensive duties will be temporarily reallocated among existing members of the executive board. Katy Roewer, who currently serves as the group executive board member for finance, controlling, and human resources, will expand her portfolio to include corporate ventures.
Concurrently, Dr. Marcus Ackermann, the group executive board member for multichannel distance retail, will take on additional responsibility for e-commerce, business intelligence, and technology. This interim arrangement is set to take effect from December 1 and will remain in place until further notice, with the Otto Group indicating that a final decision regarding these roles will be made at a later date.
In a concise statement acknowledging her contributions, CEO Alexander Birken expressed gratitude, saying, "We thank Mahbobeh Sabetnia for her commitment and her contribution to the further development of the Otto Group and wish her every success in her future endeavours."
Before joining the Otto Group, Sabetnia had built a distinguished career holding senior positions at several global corporations. Her impressive professional background includes key roles at Amazon, McDonald's, HSBC, and Mars. Most recently, she served as the chief tech product officer at Haleon, underscoring her extensive experience and expertise in leading technology and digital transformation initiatives across diverse industries.
