Mandarina Duck Soars with €33.5 Million Revenue Projection and Global Retail Expansion
Mandarina Duck, the Italian handbag and luggage brand under the ownership of Korean group E-Land, is navigating the year 2025 with a confident outlook. The company projects a revenue of €33.5 million for the current fiscal year, anticipating continued growth into 2026 across all its diverse distribution channels, which include direct retail, wholesale, and e-commerce.
The brand's physical retail presence is robust, encompassing approximately 600 global retailers through its extensive wholesale network. Additionally, Mandarina Duck operates 10 monobrand stores in Italy, two dedicated corners within El Corte Inglés department stores in Spain, and outlet stores at prominent locations like La Roca Village and Fidenza Village. Its recently updated e-shop is also set for further expansion, with plans to launch soon in the Canadian market, as confirmed by the brand to FashionNetwork.com.
Mandarina Duck's newest physical stores showcase an interior concept that first debuted at the Bergamo airport location in Italy. This design approach has since been adopted for the restyling of stores in Venice, Florence Por Santa Maria, and Bergamo, as well as the recent opening in Verona. A brand spokesperson explained to FashionNetwork.com that this concept aims to unify the brand's retail image globally, embodying Mandarina Duck's core values of movement, discovery, and innovation, thereby offering customers a cohesive and immersive in-store experience. The company plans a phased upgrade of all existing stores to align with this new aesthetic, transforming both physical and digital spaces into hubs of discovery and inspiration, fostering deeper connections with a progressively sophisticated and connected consumer base.
For 2025, Mandarina Duck, a brand drawing inspiration from travel and the vibrant plumage of the mandarin duck, expects its revenue to be distributed as follows: monobrand stores will contribute 30%, the wholesale channel will account for a significant 60%, e-tail will make up 5%, and other channels will cover the remaining 5%. Delving into wholesale figures, exports are a key driver, representing 59% of total wholesale revenue, with no new market entries currently slated. The brand’s e-tail revenue, experiencing vigorous growth, particularly benefits from online sales outside Italy, which account for roughly 60% of its total e-commerce takings across both EU and non-EU markets.
The campaign for the Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection, with its initial drop now available online and in stores, pays homage to Rotterdam's distinctive architecture. The narrative centers on smart travel, infused with a light-hearted, stylish, and insightful spirit. Iconic structures such as Piet Blom’s Cube Houses, a radical 1970s housing project, serve as an invitation to embark on journeys of discovery. These "house forests" symbolize adventures where leisure meets exploration, suggesting that choosing a hostel over a hotel can lead to the unexpected wonders of human connection over traditional luxury. The campaign was crafted by Mandarina Duck to position Rotterdam as a dynamic stage where innovation and tradition beautifully converge, highlighted by the elegance of the Erasmusbrug, known as 'the swan,' which symbolizes the city's urban charm, and the MVRDV-designed Depot, part of the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum—recognized as the world’s first public art repository and a benchmark in art curation.
The Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection introduces several notable additions. The new Hunter Velvet model offers a fresh take on the classic Hunter design, featuring soft velvet textures and available in four colors, perfect for adding a chic touch to city explorations. The Y-Lite line is designed specifically for escapades and city breaks, characterized by ultra-light materials and dynamic aesthetics. This season also sees the launch of the Smartduck line, designed for modern and stylish travel with its minimalist, functional shapes and practical compartments, alongside the tough and lightweight Skyduck line. Furthermore, a new version of the well-established Eco Coated line is available, crafted entirely from 100% recycled polyester fabrics.
