Mango and TextileGenesis Unite for Transparent Fashion Future

Barcelona-based fashion giant Mango is significantly bolstering its commitment to sustainability through a strategic collaboration with TextileGenesis, a leading traceability platform for the textile and fashion industry. This partnership aims to ensure comprehensive traceability for Mango's natural, synthetic, and cellulosic fibres, as well as leather, spanning the entire journey from their initial source to the final product. The alliance is set to create a fully transparent and digitised value chain, enhancing the brand's ability to monitor and verify its materials.

TextileGenesis, founded in 2018 and acquired by Lectra, the French specialist in equipment for the flexible materials industry, in 2022, brings advanced technology to this endeavour. The Dutch platform operates on a 'fibre-forward' approach, utilising six-dimensional capabilities to enable brands like Mango to rigorously verify the authenticity and origin of their materials. This innovative system provides reliable and secure data at every stage of production, establishing a robust framework for supply chain visibility.

Amit Gautam, CEO of TextileGenesis, highlighted the inherent challenges in achieving such deep transparency within global supply chains, particularly for large brands like Mango. He emphasised that the TextileGenesis platform is instrumental in overcoming these complexities, by making it possible to provide verifiable, detailed information at every production stage. This capability is crucial in supporting Mango to effectively meet its ambitious sustainability objectives and commitments.

Through this new partnership, Mango is actively strengthening its dedication to circularity, a move that addresses the growing demands of tighter regulatory frameworks and heightened consumer expectations regarding sustainable and ethical practices. Building on an initial pilot program launched in 2023, the collaboration with TextileGenesis has already yielded significant results. It has enabled Mango to digitally map over 6,000 tonnes of sustainable fibres and track 40 million finished products, involving more than 1,000 supply chain stakeholders across 23 countries.

Founded in 1984 by Isak Andic, the Catalan company has grown into a global fashion powerhouse, operating in over 120 markets with a vast retail network of more than 2,800 stores. Financially, Mango reported a robust performance in the first half of the current financial year, achieving a turnover of €1.728 billion, marking a 12% increase over the previous year. Looking ahead, the company has set ambitious targets, aiming to reach €4 billion in sales and add 500 new points of sale, both domestically and internationally, by the end of 2026.
