Mango Opens Ninth Scottish Store in Aberdeen Driving UK Expansion
Global fashion powerhouse Mango has officially opened its doors in Aberdeen, marking a significant milestone for the brand's expansion in Scotland. Located within the bustling Union Square shopping centre, this new establishment is Mango's ninth store in Scotland and represents a concerted effort to deepen its presence and reach across the country. The launch has also brought a positive economic impact to the local community, creating 20 new employment opportunities.
This Aberdeen opening is an integral component of Mango's ambitious global expansion strategy. The retailer has set a robust target of inaugurating 500 new stores worldwide between 2023 and 2026. Within this overarching plan, the United Kingdom stands out as a "priority growth market," with Mango committing to opening 20 new stores across the UK specifically within this year alone. This strategic move underscores the brand's confidence in the UK retail landscape and its dedication to enhancing customer accessibility.
The new 4,844 sq ft store in Aberdeen showcases Mango's contemporary "New Med" design concept. This unique aesthetic draws inspiration from the brand's rich Mediterranean heritage and culture, creating an inviting and immersive shopping environment. Customers visiting the store will discover Mango's latest womenswear collection, which encompasses a comprehensive range of clothing, footwear, and accessories, reflecting the brand's commitment to offering diverse and stylish fashion choices.
The expansion into Aberdeen is strategically aligned with Mango's broader 2024-2026 strategic plan, which is geared towards driving both sales growth and physical store expansion. This forward-looking approach is underpinned by Mango's impressive recent performance. The Spanish retailer reported a global turnover of €1.73 billion (£1.52 billion) for the first half of 2025, demonstrating a substantial 12% year-on-year increase (or 14% at constant exchange rates). This robust growth, as noted by the brand, has been primarily fueled by the strong popularity of its collections and the successful launch of new store locations.
Commenting on this pivotal opening, Fiona Cullen, International Regional director for the UK & Ireland, expressed her enthusiasm: “Our new Mango Woman store in Aberdeen is a confident step forward for Mango, building on the strong progress we have made over the last year to broaden the appeal of Mango to even more customers across the UK. Aberdeen is the perfect new home to introduce our womenswear collection to the more Scottish customers, in a store format that truly represents the Mediterranean soul of our brand.” Her statement highlights the strategic importance of the Aberdeen store in captivating a wider Scottish audience and embodying Mango's distinctive brand identity.
