Marc O'Polo COO Patric Spethmann Departs After Driving Digital Transformation

Marc O'Polo, the renowned German fashion brand, has announced the departure of its Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Patric Spethmann. Dr. Spethmann will leave the Stephanskirchen-based company at the close of the current financial year, a decision made at his own request following a successful period of comprehensive transformation.

Having joined Marc O'Polo in 2019, Dr. Spethmann's nearly seven-year tenure was dedicated to strengthening the company's operational backbone. His primary mission was to advance scalable, systems-oriented organizational functions, significantly contributing to the brand's strategic development.

In his pivotal role as COO, Dr. Spethmann spearheaded the company's extensive digital transformation. This included crucial initiatives such as the implementation of the SAP project, a significant realignment of logistics operations, the creation of new end-to-end processes, and the optimization of various internal organizational procedures. His leadership was instrumental in modernizing Marc O'Polo's operational framework.

Maximilian Böck, CEO of Marc O’Polo SE, expressed deep gratitude for Dr. Spethmann's impact, stating, "We would like to thank Patric sincerely for his commitment and expertise during a crucial phase for the company. His work has laid the foundation for further expanding our digital activities." This sentiment was echoed by Werner Böck, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Marc O’Polo SE, who acknowledged Dr. Spethmann's extensive expertise in logistics and IT, emphasizing how his leadership successfully advanced the company's infrastructure and processes.

Following Dr. Spethmann's departure, his previous areas of responsibility will be integrated within the existing Management Board team. The IT division will now fall under the purview of CFO/CHRO Markus Staude-Skowronek, while CSO Dr. Dirk Schneider will assume responsibility for logistics. This strategic decision not to appoint a new Chief Operating Officer underlines Marc O'Polo's confidence in its organizational strength and growing independence.

Reflecting on his time at Marc O'Polo, Dr. Spethmann shared his satisfaction: "A transformation programme with many projects must be completed at some point – and the company should be in a much better position afterwards than it was at the beginning. That is the task. This is now the case after around seven years. What means the most to me is having built a great team that will continue the journey successfully." His words highlight the successful culmination of his transformative work and the legacy of a strong team he leaves behind.
