Me+Em expands into Yorkshire with strategic Harrogate boutique opening
The premium fashion brand Me+Em has inaugurated its first boutique in Yorkshire, selecting Harrogate's town centre as the site for its new location. The 1,300 sq ft space is situated on Prospect Crescent in a Grade II-listed building that formerly served as a bank. This strategic expansion into Yorkshire marks a significant milestone in the brand's growth trajectory across the UK.
In adherence to the brand’s "global Me+Em design" principles, the Harrogate store features a blend of traditional English furniture and contemporary design elements. The interiors are enhanced by neutral-toned soft furnishings crafted from fabrics by London-based designer Rose Uniacke. The colour palette for the "immersive space" is centred on a rich forest green, chosen as a specific homage to the nearby Yorkshire Dales. Large-scale haberdashery fixtures are utilized for displaying accessories and essential wardrobe items, while bespoke bronze rails present carefully curated product edits from the seasonal collections.
Founded by Clare Hornby in 2009, Me+Em operates under the philosophy that women should not be forced to compromise between quality and cost. The brand emphasizes "intelligent style," focusing on designing pieces that are simultaneously flattering and functional, with a focus on "wear-forever appeal." This approach aims to provide versatile and high-quality clothing for modern women.
The opening in Harrogate represents the latest chapter in Me+Em’s continued expansion. The brand now operates seven boutiques in London, located in key areas such as Marylebone High Street, King’s Road, Chelsea, Brook Street, Mayfair, Elizabeth Street Belgravia, and Battersea Power Station. Additional UK stores are located in Manchester and Edinburgh. Harrogate holds the distinction of being the first UK store situated outside of a major city. Internationally, Me+Em has established two stores in New York, as well as locations in Dallas and Greenwich, Connecticut, with plans for a Beverly Hills, California, debut forthcoming.
Recent financial reports filed last January indicate strong business progression. Group revenue witnessed a 24% increase, reaching £147.9 million. This growth was notably driven by the international segment, where revenues soared by 50%. Gross profit also rose by 24% to £82.3 million, accompanied by an improvement in margin from 55% to 56%, demonstrating sustained financial health and market appeal.
