Million Euro Jewellery Heist Rocks French Riviera Designer's Holiday Rental

American jewellery designer Chris Aire has reported a significant theft of over 1 million euros worth of jewellery from a holiday rental on the French Riviera. The incident occurred in Villefranche-sur-Mer, a town near Nice, and was reported to police on Tuesday.

Aire, known for his designs worn by celebrities like Naomi Campbell and his collaborative work with LeBron James, discovered the theft at the furnished property he was temporarily residing in. In addition to the high-value jewellery, approximately 6,000 euros in cash was also taken.

French authorities have launched an investigation into the case, classifying it as “aggravated theft.” Public prosecutor Damien Martinelli confirmed to AFP that the investigation, led by the Nice judicial police, centers around a “non-violent burglary,” indicating no physical confrontation occurred during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to recover the stolen items and identify those responsible for the theft from the designer’s holiday accommodation.
