ModaLisboa Unveils Vibrant Schedule Spotlighting 53 Designers

The program of shows and parties for ModaLisboa Base, the latest iteration of Lisboa Fashion Week, was unveiled on Friday, September 12, by the Portuguese association responsible for the event. Born in 1991 through the vision and talent of designer duo Eduarda Abbondanza and Mário Matos Ribeiro, ModaLisboa emerged from the avant-garde fashion and design scene of Bairro Alto, already known for its irreverence and a vibrant concentration of ideas, spaces, and events.

The upcoming event is set to commence in the late afternoon of Tuesday, September 30, with "Repeat the Action" by IED - Istituto Europeo di Design, based in Milan. This initiative makes a return to the catwalk of the Italian Embassy in Lisbon, promising to introduce "new names in international fashion to the city," according to the organization. The lineup of designers includes Carlotta Gadda, Haiqi Zhou, Daniele Dargenio, Simone Smeriglio, Denise Vecchi, Anna Serra, Arianna Pejrani, Roberto Niutta, Natalia Arroyas, Miguel Conde Garcia-Mochales, Michel Mahfoud, Eloi Sacristan, and Ainhize Ganzabal Santiago.

A notable innovation for this edition is that ModaLisboa Base will take a brief interlude on October 1, before resuming on Thursday, October 2. This day marks the premiere of the "Fashion House," featuring performance presentations at Palacete Gomes Freire. Designers Roselyn Silva, Ana Margarida Feijão, and Gandaia (debuting after a rebranding) will showcase their work at 6 PM, 7:30 PM, and 9 PM, respectively, adding an exciting, dynamic element to the schedule.

Friday, October 3, promises a spotlight on emerging talent. At 6 PM, nine new voices from "Sangue Novo," supported by Seaside, will grace the Lisbon catwalk. These include Adja Baio, Ariana Orrico, dépaysement non-lieu, do Cruzeiro Seixas Eva, Elio, Inês Almeida, Mafalda Simões, Mariana Garcia, and Usual Suspect. The day at Pátio da Galé will conclude with additional fashion shows by Francisca Nabinho/Bárbara Atanásio at 8 PM, Alves/Gonçalves at 9:30 PM, and 2B at 10:30 PM, offering a diverse array of styles and creative expressions.

Saturday is slated to be the busiest day of the week, featuring non-stop presentations and fashion shows from 3 PM to 8:30 PM. The packed schedule includes Portuguese Soul, Gabriel Silva Barros/Mestre Studio, Luís Onofre, Béhen, Olga Noronha, Gonçalo Peixoto, Kolovrat, and Carlos Gil. It's worth noting that APICCAPS' editorial project, Portuguese Soul, will host its presentation off-location at Moldo Studios, while Béhen and Olga Noronha will offer exclusive presentations at MUDE - Museu do Design, adding an extra layer of curated experience.

This 65th edition of Lisboa Fashion Week, organized by the ModaLisboa Association in collaboration with and sponsored by the Lisbon city council, will unfold over four and a half days. While primarily concentrated in the iconic Pátio da Galé, the event will also revisit other significant spaces in the heart of the city, such as MUDE - Museu do Design, enriching the urban fashion experience.

In summary, the ModaLisboa Association concludes that this edition presents "a calendar that highlights the diversity of its creative ecosystem, with 23 fashion presentations and 53 national and international designers and brands." The comprehensive program underscores the event's commitment to showcasing a wide spectrum of talent and innovation within the global fashion landscape.
