Monica Vinader Appoints Luxury Veteran Sebastian Picardo as New CEO

UK-based jewellery brand Monica Vinader has announced a significant leadership transition, welcoming Sebastian Picardo as its new Chief Executive Officer. This appointment marks a pivotal moment for the company, which has been under the direct stewardship of its founders since its inception. Picardo steps into the role, bringing a wealth of experience from the high-end luxury sector to guide the brand through its next phase of development.

Picardo's professional journey showcases an impressive tenure across some of the most prestigious names in luxury retail and fashion. His most recent position was as President & CEO of Canada’s renowned luxury department store, Holt Renfrew, a role he held for five years, commencing in the challenging environment of summer 2020 amid the global pandemic. Prior to this, he dedicated six years to Asia-Pacific’s influential luxury retailer, Lane Crawford, culminating in his position as Deputy President. His extensive career also includes key roles such as Digital Commerce MD at Burberry, Head of Finance at Net-A-Porter, and Financial Controller at Alexander McQueen, demonstrating a broad spectrum of expertise within the industry.

This comprehensive background positions Picardo as an exceptionally experienced executive and leader, possessing crucial insights into both the upper echelons of the luxury segment and the more accessible premium market, where Monica Vinader operates. The transition represents a major strategic move for Monica Vinader, a brand established in 2008 by siblings Monica and Gabriela Vinader, which has maintained profitability for the majority of its history. Following Picardo’s appointment as CEO, Monica Vinader will continue her executive involvement as the brand’s Artistic Director, ensuring creative vision remains aligned with the brand's heritage. Gabriela Vinader will transition to a Non-Executive Director role.
