M&S Flagship Store Opens in Bristol Signaling Major Retail Boost
Marks & Spencer has marked a significant milestone in its UK store transformation programme with the grand unveiling of its all-new flagship store at Cabot Circus in Bristol city centre. This impressive 80,000 sq ft retail space spans three expansive floors, offering a comprehensive array of M&S's renowned food, fashion, home, and beauty collections. The Bristol opening is a key part of M&S's broader strategy, as it represents one of over 20 new or renewed stores scheduled to launch in the second half of the current financial year, with another flagship, Bath Southgate, slated for a February opening.
The new store places a strong emphasis on an enhanced shopping experience, particularly within its fashion and beauty departments. Two dedicated floors showcase M&S's extensive apparel ranges, complemented by its largest-ever in-store beauty offer. Spanning almost 3,000 sq ft, the beauty area features M&S's popular own-brands like Apothecary and Fresh Elements Skincare, alongside a curated selection of esteemed third-party brands including Estee Lauder and Clinique. In womenswear, customers can explore the sophisticated Jaeger collection and a diverse range of partywear, highlighted by 15 different styles of the classic black party dress, starting from an accessible £26. The Velvet and Satin Drawstring Wide Leg Trousers are already generating buzz, anticipated to be amongst the store’s bestsellers.
Beyond womenswear, M&S Cabot Circus caters comprehensively to every family member and home. The kidswear section presents a vibrant selection of daywear essentials and festive party attire, ensuring children are well-dressed for any occasion. On the upper level, the Autograph menswear collection takes pride of place, offering a refined selection of clothing, including a comprehensive range of suits. For the home, the latest M&S x Kelly Hoppen homeware edit offers versatile and modern pieces designed to elevate any living space, reflecting contemporary trends and quality craftsmanship.
The return of M&S to the heart of Bristol has been met with widespread enthusiasm, as articulated by Paul O’Brien, Director of Leasing and Commercialisation Performance for Cabot Circus owner/manager Hammerson. He noted, “As the number one most requested brand by our customers, we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome M&S back into the heart of Bristol.” The immediate impact was palpable, with queues of customers testament to the anticipation. O’Brien further emphasized that this retail giant will be a "major boost to the destination and the city more generally." He concluded by stating, "As a result of our ongoing investment, and with even more new brands launching next year, this is a golden moment for Cabot Circus as we continue to deliver a vibrant, multi-use destination at the centre of the community.”
