Mulberry and De Rigo Extend Luxury Eyewear Partnership to 2031
Mulberry, the renowned British luxury label, has officially extended its eyewear license agreement with the Italian manufacturing giant, the De Rigo group, solidifying a partnership set to continue until 2031. This renewed collaboration, which first commenced in 2018, ensures that De Rigo will maintain its crucial role in the development, production, and global distribution of Mulberry's distinguished eyeglasses and sunglasses collections for nearly another decade.
The enduring success of this alliance stems from its ability to seamlessly translate Mulberry's quintessential British heritage into eyewear products. The collections are meticulously crafted with clean, elegant lines, embodying a "quiet luxury" aesthetic that expertly merges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities. This approach ensures that each piece not only reflects current trends but also carries the timeless essence for which Mulberry is celebrated.
A distinctive feature of these eyewear collections is the incorporation of Mulberry's iconic design elements. Signature details, such as the instantly recognisable buckles, handbag zips, the subtle yet prominent tree logo, and the brand's emblematic Postman's Lock clasp, are ingeniously replicated as intricate design accents within the frames. These details serve as a direct link to Mulberry's leather goods legacy, offering a cohesive brand experience across different product categories.
Beyond aesthetics, the partnership is also deeply committed to sustainability. A significant portion of the eyewear models features frames made from bio-based acetate and lenses crafted from bio-nylon. This conscious choice is fully aligned with Mulberry's broader sustainability strategy, which includes a strong focus on investing in supply chain traceability and continuously developing innovative, environmentally friendly materials across its entire product range.
Mulberry, founded in Somerset in 1971, initially built its reputation on high-end leather goods, becoming synonymous with British luxury and exceptional craftsmanship. Over its rich history, the label has strategically diversified its offerings, expanding into ready-to-wear apparel, various fashion accessories, and even sophisticated home decoration items, further cementing its status as a comprehensive lifestyle brand.
Andrea Baldo, CEO of Mulberry, expressed his enthusiasm for the renewed agreement, stating, “The partnership with De Rigo extends our lifestyle offer to eyewear, combining thoughtful design and sustainable innovation.” His comments underscore the strategic importance of eyewear in broadening Mulberry's brand footprint and delivering on its commitment to both aesthetic excellence and environmental responsibility.
Echoing this sentiment, Michele Aracri, CEO of De Rigo Vision, affirmed his company's pride in the continued collaboration. “We are proud to continue our journey with Mulberry, a brand that strikes a perfect balance between craftsmanship, design and sustainability,” Aracri remarked. He added that "The agreement's renewal confirms ours is a strong partnership focused on significant international growth," highlighting the mutual benefits and shared vision for expanding their global presence in the luxury market.
