Munich Hirmer Building Sale Faces Court Challenge

Munich Hirmer Building Sale Faces Court Challenge

The high-profile sale of a prominent Munich property, which houses the flagship store of men’s fashion retailer Hirmer, is currently being challenged in court. This legal dispute casts uncertainty over a significant real estate transaction in a prime urban location.

A spokeswoman for a regional court has confirmed to Bloomberg News that an application for a preliminary injunction has been filed in connection with the sale of the property located at Kaufingerstrasse 28. While confirming the legal action, the spokeswoman declined to identify the specific party or parties who initiated the application for the injunction.

The building owner, a company operating under the name MW Hirmer GmbH & Co. KG, reportedly reached an agreement last month to sell the prestigious location for a substantial €124 million ($144 million). According to a report published in the local newspaper Abendzeitung, the buyer has been identified as a company linked to the well-known lawyer and real estate developer, Erich Schwaiger.

A spokesperson for MW Hirmer has confirmed that the company has been formally notified of the application for an injunction but chose not to provide any additional details regarding the ongoing legal matter. Repeated attempts to reach Erich Schwaiger for comment on the situation have, to date, gone unanswered.
