Nike and Skims Launch Revolutionary Activewear Brand NikeSkims
Nike and Skims have officially unveiled their highly anticipated first apparel collection, marking the debut of a groundbreaking standalone brand: NikeSkims. This innovative partnership transcends a traditional collaboration, establishing a new entity poised to redefine women's activewear by fusing Nike's unparalleled performance expertise with Skims' signature solutions-driven approach to apparel design.
The inaugural NikeSkims line is a comprehensive offering, spanning seven distinct collections and featuring 58 unique silhouettes. Designed as a versatile "system of dress," the collection promises seamless transitions from studio workouts to gym sessions and beyond, boasting over 10,000 potential mix-and-match combinations. This extensive range underscores the brands' commitment to providing women with adaptable and stylish options for every aspect of their active lives.
Following its initial announcement in February, the NikeSkims collection will become available to consumers on September 26th. Shoppers can access the full range through both the Nike and Skims official websites, as well as at select Nike and Skims flagship stores located in the vibrant cities of New York and Los Angeles. This strategic launch aims to make the new brand accessible to a broad audience eager to experience its unique blend of style and function.
Amy Montagne, President of Nike, emphasized the significance of this venture, stating, "NikeSkims is a bold evolution in how women experience sport and style — and together with Skims, we’re delivering what no other brand can." She highlighted that this initiative aligns with Nike's broader commitment to its female consumers, focusing on "uncompromising product innovation that moves and celebrates women" at every stage of their athletic journey.
The launch is powerfully supported by an inspiring campaign titled "Bodies at Work," which was directed by Janicza Bravo and features stunning photography by Luis Alberto Rodriguez and Rob Woodcox. This visual narrative showcases over 50 prominent athletes from Nike’s diverse portfolio, including Olympic and world champions like Jordan Chiles, Romane Dicko, Beatriz Hatz, Chloe Kim, Nelly Korda, Sha’Carri Richardson, Madisen Skinner, and Serena Williams. Skims co-founder Kim Kardashian also appears in the campaign, underscoring the brand's inclusive vision.
Kim Kardashian articulated the core philosophy behind the collection, saying, “NikeSkims’ Bodies at Work film celebrates every woman’s strength and power. Our mission is clear: to redefine women’s activewear without compromise. This collection brings together cutting-edge performance with bold, style-forward design, empowering athletes — from elite competitors to everyday gym enthusiasts — to move effortlessly and conquer their goals with confidence.” Her statement reinforces the brand’s dedication to empowering all women through thoughtfully designed apparel.
The debut NikeSkims launch introduces three foundational collections: Matte, Shine, and Airy, which form the core of the line. Complementing these are four distinct seasonal capsules, featuring track-inspired, vintage, semi-sheer, and nylon styles. Each piece is meticulously crafted with innovative materials, including advanced sculpting fabrics and Nike’s renowned Dri-Fit technology, engineered to deliver optimal compression, breathability, and stretch, ensuring superior comfort and performance.
Olympic and world-champion gymnast Jordan Chiles offered enthusiastic praise for the collection, highlighting its perfect blend of performance and personal expression. “I’m an athlete, but I love fashion too. It’s important for me to express myself, and I love how wearing NikeSkims allows me to do that,” Chiles shared. She further added, “The NikeSkims product is a game-changer. I love the quality, how it moves with me and supports me in all the right areas. I feel sleek, comfortable and completely myself,” underscoring the transformative impact of the new apparel on athletes.
