Nude Project Launches Ambitious US Pop-Up in Miami Fueled by Star Power and Surprising Demand

Spanish fashion sensation Nude Project has officially made its mark on American soil, launching its inaugural US pop-up shop in Miami's prestigious Design District this past weekend. Founded in 2019 by visionary entrepreneurs Bruno Casanovas and Alex Benlloch, the brand has rapidly gained international recognition, famously dressing global icons such as Madonna, Rauw Alejandro, and Ronaldinho.

The Miami debut marked a significant milestone for the Barcelona-based label. "It's the first pop-up of our lives across the pond," Casanovas shared in an interview, reflecting on the brand's ambitious expansion. Hundreds of eager fans flocked to the Miami Design District on Saturday for the grand opening, demonstrating an unexpected level of anticipation for a brand that, until now, primarily operated through its nine established shops across Europe.

Nestled amidst the opulent window displays of the world's leading luxury brands, Nude Project’s temporary space offered a distinctive experience. It pulsed with high-tempo music, meticulously curated around a striking central tree, and featured an innovative bookcase that transformed into a secret doorway leading to a photo booth. Casanovas expressed his astonishment at the turnout, recalling "the most surreal thing that's ever happened in my life" when he witnessed a six-block-long queue forming in the sweltering Miami heat just minutes before the doors opened. "We came here not realising how well-known the brand was," he admitted.

Venturing into the US market is a strategic challenge, described by the founders as "one of the most challenging markets" where "very few European brands" successfully establish a connection with consumers. Despite this, Nude Project's founders embraced the temporary project, with the brick-and-mortar shop scheduled to be open for a total of 16 days. The brand's creative director believes their strength lies not in being "the coolest, the most fun, or the funniest," but in offering "a genuine, real and authentic product" to the American audience.

The Miami pop-up's timing is particularly strategic, coinciding with Billboard's Latin Music Week from October 20 to 23. Casanovas announced that Nude Project plans to host dynamic performances featuring surprise guest musicians during this period, reinforcing the brand's commitment to artists and those who "create more community than anyone else." This initiative underscores their dedication to fostering authentic connections within the creative landscape.

Over the past six years, Nude Project has experienced phenomenal growth, with Alex, 24, and Bruno, 25, reporting millions of euros in annual revenue, including 26 million euros in 2023. Their success has earned them a cover feature on Forbes, yet their primary motivation remains "the simplest thing, which is to keep having the opportunity to create non-stop." The founders thrive on the thrill of new ventures. "That adrenaline that comes from the challenge of going to the US, where hardly anyone knows us, is what keeps us young and alive," Casanovas shared.

The journey to Miami has been a long-held aspiration. Alex and Bruno fondly recalled their first visit to the Miami Design District in 2021, nurturing the hope of one day bringing Nude Project there. Two years later, their vision has materialized, marking a pivotal moment for the brand. Casanovas concluded with a forward-looking perspective, emphasizing, "There are so many things to do, so many countries to go to, so many people to meet that I feel we've only just begun."
