On Running UK Sees Massive Sales Surge and Global Growth
On Running UK has reported a strong performance for 2024, demonstrating significant growth in both sales and profitability. The Swiss brand’s financial results, recently filed, reveal a substantial increase in revenue, reaching £134.6 million – a jump from £94.6 million the previous year. This positive trajectory underscores the brand’s increasing popularity and market penetration within the UK.
A detailed breakdown of sales reveals impressive figures across all product categories. Net sales of On Running’s core product, footwear, experienced a remarkable 43.3% increase, totaling £121.4 million. Apparel sales also saw considerable growth, rising by 32.7% to £11.7 million, while accessories witnessed the most substantial surge, with a 77% increase to £1.47 million. This diversified growth indicates a broadening consumer base and successful expansion beyond its initial footwear focus.
The company’s financial health is further evidenced by its gross profit, which climbed to £48.5 million from £37.1 million. However, operating profit experienced a slight dip, falling to £2.79 million from £125 million. Despite this, net profit saw a healthy increase, reaching £3.2 million compared to just under £1.3 million in the prior year, suggesting effective cost management and overall financial stability.
On Running’s strategic retail expansion played a key role in its 2024 success. The opening of its first British flagship store on Regent Street in London, alongside subsequent launches in Spitalfields and an outlet in Bicester Village, demonstrably impacted sales figures. These physical locations provided increased brand visibility and direct access to consumers, contributing to the overall positive results.
Looking ahead, On Running anticipates continued growth. While the full 2025 UK accounts won’t be available until next year, early indicators are exceptionally promising. Globally, net sales for the first nine months of 2025 increased by 32.6% to £2.1 billion, with gross profit up 37.8% at £1.3 billion. The company also reported a record-breaking third quarter, signaling strong momentum.
Recent successes have been fueled, in part, by viral social media attention, boosting brand awareness and driving consumer demand. Furthermore, strategic initiatives such as the brand’s debut in South Korea with two new stores and a collaborative winter capsule collection with Loewe are expected to further enhance sales and solidify On Running’s position in the global market.
