Oysho Expands into Germany with Flagship Berlin Store and Community Initiatives
Oysho, Inditex’s dedicated sports and leisure chain, has officially marked its presence in the German capital with the opening of a new store. Situated at 2–3 Hackescher Markt in Berlin’s central Mitte district, just moments from the iconic Alexanderplatz, this strategic move aligns with the brand’s ambitious global growth strategy. This expansion phase has recently seen Oysho enter the Netherlands for the first time, while simultaneously reinforcing its market position in key regions such as the United Kingdom and France.
The new Berlin flagship spans nearly 400 square metres across two meticulously designed floors. Adhering to Oysho’s signature technical and functional ethos, the store boasts a warm, light-filled aesthetic, creating a contemporary and minimalist atmosphere. Housed within a listed building, its expansive glass façade opens directly onto the bustling square. Inside, customers can explore a comprehensive array of Oysho’s collections: the ground floor showcases the popular ski and après-ski capsule, outerwear, and the innovative Warm line, while the first floor is dedicated to athleisure wear, core basics, tops, and leggings. The space also features the chain’s specialized Studio line, perfect for activities like Pilates, barre, and yoga, alongside a dedicated running area complete with accessories and fitting rooms.
Coinciding with this significant opening, Oysho has introduced its "Oysho Community" initiative in Germany. This complimentary programme of sporting activities is designed to foster local engagement, featuring a weekly running club that commences from the new store. The initiative also includes collaborations with local fitness centres through its "Partner Studios" scheme and a curated series of special seasonal sessions, further embedding the brand within the German sports and wellness landscape.
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Tordera, Oysho initially entered the German market in 2022 with a 300-square-metre store at the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier shopping centre. The Berlin opening now establishes two company-owned stores for the brand in Germany. Globally, Oysho’s network comprised 396 stores, including both company-owned and franchised locations, by the close of 2024. Furthermore, the brand maintains a robust online presence, reaching approximately 220 markets worldwide.
Financially, Oysho concluded 2024 with a strong turnover of 831 million euros, representing an impressive year-on-year increase of 11.8%. Its parent company, the Inditex conglomerate—which also owns renowned brands such as Zara, Zara Home, Pull&Bear, Lefties, Stradivarius, Massimo Dutti, and Bershka—reported a 7.5% rise in turnover over the same period, reaching a total of 38.632 billion euros. In the first nine months of the current financial year, the group, chaired by Marta Ortega, saw its sales climb by 2.7%, achieving 28.171 billion euros.
