Paul & Joe and Bonsoirs Dream Up Cozy Elegance for the Festive Season

Bonsoirs, the esteemed specialist in high-end household linen, has unveiled an elegant new home collection in collaboration with celebrated designer Sophie Mechaly of Paul & Joe. This partnership, aptly named 'Paul & Joe pour Bonsoirs,' masterfully fuses quintessential French panache and style with a touch of British sensibility, mirroring the aesthetic that defines Mechaly's fashion designs.

The collection's debut was enthusiastically presented by Mechaly herself on Tuesday, within the graceful confines of Bonsoirs' rue Etienne Marcel store in central Paris. Mechaly, always a picture of elegance, clarified the timing, stating, "This is timed for the festive season, bien sur, but we didn’t want anything obvious like red and green plaid or Christmas scenes." The focus instead is on timeless sophistication.

Drawing inspiration from Paul & Joe's signature patterns, the collection reinterprets the brand's rich heritage through a unique, decorative perspective. Highlights include meticulously drawn autumnal forests adorning fitted sheets and pillowcases, alongside delicately embroidered cushions featuring charming, naive Noah’s Ark animal motifs. Solid colour options are elevated with distinctive fabric buttons, shaped like puckered roses. Each item boasts exclusive patterns, such as bedspread covers crafted from long-fibre striped satin cotton with exquisite couture piping finishes, and curtains showcasing a subtle menagerie design.

Reflecting on her vision, Sophie Mechaly, seen lounging amongst her creations on a double bed, shared, “I wanted a combination of poetry and comfort that makes for a precious gift.” She added, “Anyway, what’s the best time of most weeks? Lying in beautiful bed on a weekend morning with your young kids around you!” Mechaly, an alumna of Paris fashion college IFM and the Sorbonne, honed her skills at Azzedine Alaia’s atelier before founding Paul & Joe in 1995, where she quickly garnered a loyal following for her playfully understated French panache.

The 'Paul & Joe pour Bonsoirs' collection is competitively priced, making luxury accessible. Large-sized bedspread covers are available for €135, two-meter fitted sheets for €70, and pillowcases for €50.

Beyond bedding, the collection also offers a perfect post-shower accessory: a luxurious white towelling robe. While Bonsoirs typically offers bold striped versions, this collaboration features an all-white Tuileries bathrobe. It stands out with billiard green lapels, a breast pocket adorned with a hunting scene, and a beautifully embroidered hot air balloon on the back. Priced at €149, this unique piece subtly references one of France's most joyous recent moments: the Montgolfier balloon that graced the Paris Olympic Games garden each sunset.

The new 'Paul & Joe pour Bonsoirs' collection is currently available for purchase online and across Bonsoirs' French retail locations in Paris and Lille.
