Performance Days Autumn Edition Draws Record Crowds Highlighting Textile Recycling Innovation
The latest autumn edition of Performance Days, held on October 29-30, saw a remarkable turnout, reporting strong attendance figures. Approximately 4,500 visitors converged in Munich to explore the latest fabric collections and product innovations showcased by a total of 515 exhibitors. The organizers expressed immense satisfaction with the two-day event, describing it as brimming with energy, valuable exchanges, and groundbreaking innovation. An exceptional atmosphere, coupled with high-calibre attendees and overwhelmingly positive feedback from all participants, underscored the trade fair's continued relevance and ability to capture the current industry zeitgeist.
This year's central focus, "Textile to Textile – the Role of Recyclers," significantly shaped both the thematic and visual aspects of the fair. This critical topic was prominently featured in the Trend Forum and served as a recurring theme across numerous conversations, exhibitor stands, and discussions throughout the event. According to the organizers, this pervasive emphasis provided clear evidence that circularity and recycling are increasingly becoming pivotal drivers within the textile industry, guiding future developments and strategies.
CEO Marco Weichert lauded the autumn edition as "a complete success," attributing it to the optimal timing, a diverse and high-quality mix of exhibitors, and an in-depth educational programme. Weichert articulated the event's core philosophy: "We see ourselves as hosts and want to offer our exhibitors, sponsors and visitors two days full of inspiration, education, new ideas, fabric innovations and a valuable, relaxed working atmosphere. I think we achieved this with flying colours over the last two days. Receiving this feedback proves that we are on the right track and encourages us to continue working consistently on our concept and quality." This sentiment highlights the commitment to providing a holistic and enriching experience for all attendees.
Visitors were greeted by a newly designed Innovation Area situated in Hall A1, which quickly became one of the central meeting points of the trade fair. This "Innovation Hub by FFE" was developed through a close collaboration with the London-based Future Fabrics Expo. Beyond offering "deep dives" into new EU regulations affecting the textile sector, the area presented initial approaches and visionary concepts for how the textiles of the future might be developed. Amanda Johnston, Chief Design Officer at Future Fabrics Expo, articulated the area's mission: "Our aim is to encourage the industry to explore the variety of sustainable material alternatives in the performance sector – and to replace traditional fibres such as virgin polyester or conventional cotton, which still account for the majority of global fibre production."
Further enhancing the event's appeal, a new Creative Area, meticulously curated in close collaboration with renowned designer and colour expert Nora Kühner, also garnered significant popularity. In addition to these fresh formats, established favourites like the Wool Area, which included the insightful Wool Forum, continued to attract considerable interest from visitors, underscoring the enduring appeal of natural fibres and their sustainable applications. Looking ahead, the dates for the spring edition next year have already been confirmed: the next Performance Days are scheduled for March 18-19, 2026, and will once again take place at Messe München.
