Pharrell Williams Honored with André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award by SCAD
Pharrell Williams, the multifaceted creative visionary, is set to be honored with the prestigious 2025 André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award by the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). This significant accolade recognizes Williams’ unparalleled and groundbreaking contributions to the fashion industry, as well as his profound influence across music, film, and broader culture.
Currently serving as the creative director for Louis Vuitton menswear and founder of the wellness brand Humanrace, Williams boasts an impressive array of achievements. His illustrious career includes 13 Grammy Awards, alongside nominations for the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Emmys. Beyond his artistic endeavors, Williams extends his impact into philanthropy through initiatives such as Yellow, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth through education.
SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace underscored the significance of the award, stating, “The André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award at SCAD honors the cultural prescience and sartorial vision of our dear friend André, a flame carried forth by Pharrell Williams like no other, from Esquire’s 'Best Dressed Man in the World' to the very helm of Louis Vuitton.” Wallace further elaborated on Williams’ unique essence, noting, “In his music and radiant style—producer, performer, polymathic fashion icon on every red carpet around the world—Pharrell personifies joy and genius. With this honor, SCAD recognizes a generational talent and emboldens SCAD Bees to design their worlds with the very same wondrous élan that distinguishes the lives of André and Pharrell, legends both.”
The award ceremony is scheduled for October 14 at SCADshow in Atlanta. This momentous occasion will coincide with the grand opening of “André Leon Talley: Style Is Forever,” a landmark exhibition celebrating the enduring legacy of the late fashion icon. The presentation will feature insightful remarks from Paula Wallace and acclaimed designer Diane von Furstenberg, followed by an engaging conversation with Williams and Grammy-winning artist The-Dream, moderated by Stephanie Sutton of Yellow.
Williams joins an elite pantheon of fashion luminaries who have previously received this esteemed honor, including Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, Miuccia Prada, Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg, and Marc Jacobs. Expressing his gratitude, Williams shared, “It is a profound honor to receive the André Leon Talley Award. André showed us that creativity has no boundaries—it moves between art, fashion, and culture as a force that unites us. His vision continues to inspire, and I’m humbled to carry forward a piece of that legacy.”
