Pitti Uomo 109 Ignites Florence with Global Menswear and Beauty Innovation

Defying a general slowdown in the global fashion and luxury sectors, largely attributed to the current geopolitical landscape, Pitti Uomo is set to reaffirm its preeminent position as the leading international event for menswear. The 109th edition of the Pitti Immagine fair, dedicated entirely to men's fashion, will convene from January 13 to 16, 2026, at Florence's historic Fortezza da Basso. This highly anticipated showcase will feature the Autumn/Winter 2026/27 collections from over 700 brands, an impressive 44% of which hail from abroad, drawing a diverse community of buyers from prestigious department stores, independent boutiques, concept stores, and global journalists.

The upcoming show embraces the dynamic "Motion" theme, designed to reflect the evolving nature of fashion and identity. Welcoming visitors in the square in front of the Central Pavilion will be a compelling site-specific installation titled "Ancient/New Site," created by the acclaimed French architect and sculptor Marc Leschelier. The trade show will maintain its five established sections—Fantastic Classic, Futuro Maschile, Dynamic Attitude, Superstyling, and I Go Out—offering a comprehensive journey through classic, informal, research-driven, and outdoor styles, while also promising numerous fresh elements along its exhibition itinerary.

A significant new addition this January is HiBeauty, a special area exclusively dedicated to the burgeoning world of niche perfumery. Integrated within the Futuro Maschile section, HiBeauty will host a curated selection of 10 independent brands, representing a new wave of fragrance and skincare innovation spanning Europe and Asia. Antonio Cristaudo, Pitti Immagine’s commercial director, highlighted that this immersive setup exemplifies the cross-pollination of genres increasingly explored by global clothing and concept stores, building on the success of Fragranze, Pitti Immagine’s event for artistic perfumery, which saw a 34% increase in international buyers. Cristaudo noted, "The time is ripe" for beauty to return prominently to Pitti Uomo, signaling an area set for significant growth.

Pitti Immagine's leadership emphasized the event's strategic vision and global reach. Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine, expressed gratitude to President De Matteis for his instrumental role in spotting global innovations and trends. Napoleone underscored the organization's commitment to international promotion, with eight additional events planned worldwide following recent showcases in London and Milan. He also detailed enhanced digital communication efforts, reaching over 100,000 members of their global community. Antonio De Matteis, President of Pitti Immagine, reinforced the positive figures of the 109th edition, with almost 740 exhibitors, 44% international, and highlighted Pitti's unique ability to attract a vast number of menswear buyers globally, urging a positive outlook for the industry.

The 109th edition is particularly notable for its influx of new names and significant returns, with 43 brands marking their presence in Florence. Among these eagerly anticipated participants are Save the Duck, Berwich, Bogner, Final Draft, Gabriel Stunz, Glenover, Hestra, Hippy Realisti, Inis Meáin Ireland, Jott, Mackie, Mallet, Santha, Snow Peak, Wyeth, Bareen, Alpe Piano, and Taakk, promising fresh perspectives and diverse offerings across the menswear spectrum.

Key highlights from established brands include WP Lavori in Corso, which will present the A/W 2026 collections of Baracuta, Barbour, BD Baggies, Spiewak, Filson, Universal Overall, and Blundstone. A major announcement is the official launch of the Baracuta womenswear collection, alongside various collaborations with leading Japanese creatives and a Filson–Baracuta capsule that blends British heritage with outdoor functionality. Additionally, Roy Roger’s and Kappa will unveil a collaborative ski suit that expertly fuses denim DNA with technical innovation.

Further brand news includes the return of Schneiders Salzburg, Austria’s historic 80-year-old Loden brand, poised for a global market relaunch under new owner Giovanni Schneider. Its new A/W 2026/27 collection, under the creative direction of Viviana Volpicella, will blend tradition and innovation through celebrated Loden and Shetland garments. Japanese sports giant Asics introduces Asics Walking, a reinterpretation of classic footwear with a technical sole. Born to Standout, a Korean brand recently acquired by L'Oréal, makes a significant return. Dolce & Gabbana will strongly support Fabi, an Italian brand it acquired, expanding its use beyond accessory production. Final Draft will launch a new distribution line, and Sebago, an increasingly on-trend brand, will showcase total look and unisex collections. From Rio de Janeiro, beachwear brand Frescobol Carioca introduces denim and evolves its knitwear and outerwear lines. Franco-German designer Gabriel Stunz, a standout from Paris Fashion Week, debuts his eponymous brand with a collection inspired by Manon Lescaut. Histores, an association of 45 multi-brand retailers, reaffirms its partnership with Pitti Immagine, presenting an event at Villa Vittoria and a capsule with Flower Mountain. Finally, Danish brand Ecco will preview its Ecco.Kollektive collection, a collaboration with designer Craig Green and White Mountaineering.

The Futuro Maschile section itself is undergoing a significant transformation, with its spaces on the Attico level being redesigned by Milan-based DWA - Design Studio. This new guise is set to amplify the section’s innovative scope, creating an even more engaging environment for exploring contemporary menswear research brands and international collaborations.

The special events of Pitti Uomo 109 promise an exciting program. Guest Designer Soshi Otsuki, the LVMH Prize 2025 winner, will present his unique style in a fashion show-event in Florence, fusing Japanese tradition with modern Italian sartorial art. Another distinguished Guest Designer, Hed Mayner, will stage a défilé reflecting his conceptual, architectural approach to fashion. Additionally, Tokyo-based designer Shinyakozuka, known for his thoughtful forms and hand-finished silhouettes, will star in a Special Event fashion show in collaboration with the Japan Fashion Week Organization, and will also have an exhibition space within the Futuro Maschile section.

In direct collaboration with Pitti Immagine, two unique events are scheduled: Consinee, a Chinese leader in cashmere and precious yarns, will present the site-specific installation "Echoes of Craft," curated by Sara Sozzani Maino and Georgian designer Galib Gassanoff. Sebiro Sampo, a "Made in Japan" project uniting six leading Japanese menswear companies, will stage its first promenade show in Europe, in collaboration with Vitale Barberis Canonico. This "suit and walk" event will see elegantly dressed men parade from the Fortezza da Basso through Florence’s historic center, showcasing their vision of tailoring.

International collaborations remain a cornerstone of Pitti Uomo. The Scandinavian Manifesto area, coordinated by CIFF, returns with the best of Nordic menswear. J∞Quality promotes quality Japanese apparel, while the Japan Leather Showroom highlights sustainable production. CODE Korea, in partnership with KOCCA, spotlights contemporary Korean creativity, and China Wave, a collaboration with the China National Garment Association, brings Chinese menswear to the Fortezza for the fourth time. The focus on Made in France creativity returns thanks to Promas French Menswear Fédération and DEFI, and the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) supports a selection of Spanish brands.

Beyond the Fortezza da Basso, the city of Florence will host cultural highlights, including Andro Eradze’s exhibition "Bones of Tomorrow." This Georgian artist’s first institutional solo show in Italy will feature videos, photographs, and installations conceived for two venues: the Project Space at Palazzo Strozzi and the former Teatro dell’Oriuolo, home of IED Florence, running until January 25, 2026.
