Reliance Retail Fuels Robust Q2 Performance with 19% Revenue Surge
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) recorded a robust consolidated performance in the second quarter of the 2026 financial year, despite narrowly missing its overall profit estimates. The conglomerate announced a 9.9% year-on-year increase in its gross revenue, alongside a significant 15.9% rise in total profit after tax, reaching Rs 22,146 crore for the quarter. This strong showing was notably bolstered by the exceptional growth delivered by its retail arm, Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL).
Reliance Retail Ventures Limited demonstrated a steady and impressive growth trajectory, showcasing its resilience and strategic execution. RRVL's revenue from operations surged by 19% year-on-year, while its gross revenue climbed 18% year-on-year, totaling an impressive Rs 90,018 crore. The retail business's profitability also saw a substantial uplift, with profit after tax soaring by 21.9% to Rs 3,457 crore. Furthermore, its EBITDA grew by 16.5% year-on-year during the second quarter, underscoring strong operational efficiency.
Isha M Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, attributed this robust performance to several key factors. She highlighted the company's "relentless focus on operational excellence," strategic investments in expanding store networks and digital platforms, and a surge in festive buying across diverse consumption baskets. Ms. Ambani also noted the potential for accelerated consumption growth due to recent GST rate changes, which are expected to benefit consumers through lower prices, further solidifying Reliance Retail's deep understanding of the Indian consumer and its commitment to consistent innovation in curating new collections and impactful campaigns.
Within Reliance Retail's expansive fashion umbrella, specific formats like Yousta and Azorte reported exceptional growth, both witnessing a 66% year-on-year increase. Yousta, in particular, achieved a significant milestone by reaching its 100-store mark during the quarter. The festive season fueled strong demand for ethnic wear, while other segments such as accessories, footwear, fashion jewellery, and beauty also experienced a notable uptick in consumer interest and sales.
Mukesh D Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, expressed satisfaction with the company's overall performance, emphasizing the strong contributions from its O2C, Jio, and Retail businesses. He specifically lauded the growth momentum of the Retail business, noting that all formats registered higher volumes, which propelled robust growth in both revenue and EBITDA. Mr. Ambani also highlighted the sustained pick-up in Reliance's quick hyperlocal delivery model and reiterated that progressive reforms in the GST regime would further boost consumption-led growth across the nation, positioning Reliance Retail as a pivotal engine for RIL's continued success.
