Rochas Ditches Ready-to-Wear to Focus Exclusively on Fragrance

The renowned Parisian fashion house, Rochas, is set to cease its ready-to-wear collections. This strategic decision comes from Interparfums, the French fragrance specialist that has held ownership of the esteemed brand since 2015 and is responsible for developing its fragrance lines. The move follows Interparfums' decision in 2023 to bring Rochas's fashion operations in-house, a short-lived chapter before the ultimate discontinuation of the clothing lines.

Interparfums, a prominent group in the licensed fragrance sector, has explicitly stated its intention to "refocus exclusively on its core business: the development and distribution of prestige perfumes and cosmetics." This strategic pivot underscores the company's commitment to consolidating its strengths in the lucrative beauty and fragrance market, rather than continuing its foray into the competitive ready-to-wear fashion segment.

The fashion collections had most recently been overseen by the Italian designer Alessandro Vigilante, who was appointed as artistic director, overseeing the creative direction since 2024. Philippe Bénacin, CEO of Interparfums, expressed his sentiments regarding the departure from fashion: "We are proud of the legacy we are leaving behind. I would like to thank all those who have supported us over the years, and in particular Alessandro Vigilante, who, over the past two years as artistic director, has beautifully interpreted the DNA of this historic maison, known for bold femininity and timeless style." His statement acknowledges Vigilante's significant contribution in upholding the brand's distinctive aesthetic.

This discontinuation marks the end of an era for Rochas's fashion segment, allowing Interparfums to dedicate all its resources and expertise to its highly successful fragrance and cosmetic portfolios. While the fashion legacy of Rochas will now become a part of its rich history, the brand's strong presence in the prestige perfume and beauty industry is set to continue and flourish under Interparfums' focused strategic direction.
